When my tractor was delivered last week, the dealer said he would be delivering the 60" box blade in a week or so since he didn't have a 60 on stock. Then on delivery day he called and said he had a 66" blade in stock and would let me have that one at no additional cost. What do you guys think? Is the 66" box going to be to much for my B-7800?

I use a 60" box blade on a B2910 (same engine & frame as the B7800), hard clay soil. It handles it pretty well. 66" is a bigger challenge, I would think you'd be OK in most conditions, but the worst conditions might stop you.
Can the dealer guarantee that the tractor won't be overwhelmed by the box blade? If so, take the 66" unit and if you find out within a "reasonable time" like over the next 90 days that the 66" is too much, have the dealer swap if for a new 60" blade.

If your just moving around a thin cover of gravel, you should be fine. If you are really working it and moving dirt, it will be to much.

DEPENDING on how hard you are going to use it, the 66" should be ok.

Really, the ideal width is probably 60". Your rear tires are about 53" wide at the outside edge.
The tractor is light, so it has some trouble getting its HP capability to the ground. This is only an issue when working the box blade hard though. Being 10% wider, the 66" box when digging in will bog the tractor down 10% sooner. Well, maybe not bog it down, but the wheels may start to spin...
But one strong root will do the same thing if you catch it with a scarifier...regardless of box scraper width.
Like the tire question, it really all depends.
I will say though that if I were shopping for a box blade I would not want more than 60". And since you have several months till you will probably be using yours, why not get what best matches your tractor? Should be possible for the dealer to supply a 60" by the time you really need it, right?
Now if you need one right now and there is none available, the 66" will probably work pretty well for you.
But when the going gets tough, the 60" has to be better...

I think the 66" box blade would be fine with your unit. But I suggest the smaller unit instead, but for different reasons.
Most folks like the box blade and the front bucket to be the SAME size. I recently changed from a larger BB to a smaller BB that is the same size as my FEL. I like it a lot better this way. And I noticed that my smaller 66" BB does not pull as hard as my 72" one.
So far I like my 66" one the best. It fits my L3130 very nicely and is matched with the 66" FEL bucket.
My suggestion is to stay with the 60" BB.

I notice that there a lot of trees in the photo. I want my box blade to go where my tractor can go so I stuck with a BB the same width as my loader (4').
I am assuming your FEL bucket is 54" so I would ask for the 5' BB.

I have a 54" BB on my 7800 and have managed to stall forward motion on the tractor more than once. Everytime has been my fault for not paying attention to what I was doing, so I can't really blame the size of the BB.
But that said, I would think that a 66" BB would be that much easier to overload the tractor capability. I like the 54" because it just covers the tire width of my R4's and allows me to sneak into narrow spaces.

In this case more bigger is not necessarily better. The extra width your getting will only make it harder for you to maneuver. Sure, your bota can handle the wider attachment but I think you will be better served with the 60". Just my opinion of coarse. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Good luck !

Merlin, I have a B7800 with a 66 Box blade. In fact the reason I have the 66 is almost identical to yours. Now not having used a 60 on the tractor I have no idea how much more the 66 might make it bog down. I know when I was moving wet clayey soil this summer it did stop me or I would spin the tires a few times. Although I wasn't sure whether that was because of the load in the BB or the fact my rear tires aren't loaded.
That being the case, as soon as I took it out to plow snow the first time I sure liked the couple extra inches of width on each side. Made it a lot easier to plow up close to things I wanted the tractor to stay away from. Like the wife's car and the house /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif.
So, while most seem to be telling you to go smaller I figure you are just fine.
