I'm a relative newbie with a 3710/FEL/rearblade/etc. I've cleaned up some of the back 40 skidder roads, and now find I have lots of 1"-4" rocks that make grading a pain. My drive also seems to "grow" rocks (especially in the spring), which makes using the snowblower (a DR Mower attachment) a bit exciting, since it throws them with no hesitation.

My goal is to clean the roads/drive of these rocks, I figure a york rake is my best option, although a box blade is another option. I welcome any suggestions and opinions!

A rake beats a box scraper for removing rocks. Windrow them off to the side and leave them there or scoop the windrows up with the FEL.

I agree with JJT a rake is far superior to a box blade when moving rocks. I have a farm in mid-TN and the only thing that holds the place together is rocks. I have a 6ft rock rake pulled by a Ford 3600. The rake angles and I can place the rocks where I want them.

Well, seems that a york rake is in my future. Thanks!

A little advise on the purchase of a landscape/York rake. Try to purchase a size so that when its angled the end is even with or just outside the width of the rear tires. This is a good rule of thumb for rear blades as well.
