JD 4310
I know this topic has been discussed, but I couldn't find it. My box blade on my JD 4310 sometimes will not stay up. The handle to raise it up also falls to the bottom position. What's going on you think?

Do you have any kind of friction disc, or nut on the 3pt quadrant ahndle to adjust tension? For sure if the control handle falls.. it is going to tell the system to drop the implement.. etc.

Yep, I bet that's it. Didn't think about that, I going to check it right now. Thanks

Nope, that wasn't it or at least I couldn't locate any kind of friction nut.

Does it hold when the tractor is not running?? When you move the arm is there a drag?

It works fine at times but I check it out this afternoon and it falls to the lower position even when the tractor is not running. There is no drag when when you move the handle back and forth.

Your missing something then. There should be some kind of drag on that arm. Get your manual out and look to see if there is an adjustment listed or go to your dealer and have him look in his parts manual.

I guess I am going to have to go the dealer as soon as I get through with these last six loads of sand.

There should be a friction disc or some other sort of tensioner device on the 3pt quadrant handle.

What actually holds the handle on?

I'm pretty sure his 1st message showed a JD 4310. I only have a few jd manuals.. and mine don't cover that model. Anybody else?

The handle goes down and is welded to a pipe which goes into the side of something and disappears. Nothing that I can see to adjust.

Got the tractor back today, you guys were correct. The dealer adjusted the handle and tightened it up somehow. They had to remove the rear tire and the fender to get to the linkage. I guess if it happens again, I'll take a crack at it for $158.00.
