Box Blade alternatives to EA?

We stay going because of increasing demand and we stay behind because demand has grown faster than our ability to build the product...

This was written by Ted a couple of months ago and posted in the Everything Attachments Channel group.

Good morning to all the EA group. I just wanted to share a little bit about how lead times are working...
I know this is a painful subject but needs to be addressed. Growing pains are real and they hurt both of us. We lose orders and our valued customers are not getting what they need when they need it. There was a day a few years ago when we had a pile of attachments and just hoped we could build the EA brand up to sell them. I will never cut corners to be able to keep up production or make it easy to build. I have been using every attachment we build from many of the best brands from the time my dad would let me on a tractor. Besides the lawn mower when I was about 6 years old, my first start was on a YM135 Yanmar in 1972. I was 8 and loved it. Through the years, I destroyed many attachments and 3 point hitch parts at my dads expense. Now, it is my goal to build the best attachments on the planet so you guys don't have to worry about destroying them. This does not mean they cant be bent or destroyed if not used correctly, but we engineer them to have the best design for the intended use. It is our intention to make them out perform all others and be as affordable as possible.

The sad thing is... We have the equipment and just paid for the old factory we were leasing that is just sitting full of lasers and every thing needed to do twice as much, BUT WHERE DO WE FIND GOOD SKILLED WORKERS THAT WILL WORK. ?? There is little room to train a worker to make YOUR attachments to our standards. It seems no one these days wants to work. We are constantly hiring at Everything Attachments, but between people that can't do the job and won't come to work, that is our biggest challenge. We start no one below 15 dollars per hour and most make 20 plus plus.

I LOVE MADE IN THE USA, BUT IT IS A REAL CHALLENGE. MY GOAL IS TO SAY IT WILL SHIP IN LESS THAN 3 DAYS. We will not quit till we get there. I have been working harder than ever in my life to 6 AM till 4 or 5 PM then go home a think the rest of my day on how to fix this great problem. Thanks to all of our awesome EA CUSTOMERS!!!

How it begins...

Flip any box blade over and compare it to this. Check out the triangular bracing, horseshoe plates of steel under the tube and plate added to the leading edge for wear resistance.

View attachment 613310

The best USA tubes are laser cut and welded by people inside our factory.

View attachment 613311

Very strong ripper shank attachment points. It isn't as cheap or easy as most others, but it is stronger.

View attachment 613312

Welded hitch is also more expensive to make, handle and ship for us, but no corners are cut.

View attachment 613313

Strong, solid, continuous welds. This is art.

View attachment 613314

We build them and we use them.

View attachment 613316

Another big reason for our being behind. Around 300 people are in line for a Wicked Root Rake Grapple at any given moment.

I hope this helps to explain the situation we're dealing with. We understand if you can't wait, but, all the time, people tell us that the wait was well worth it.

I think everyone understands the logistics. Most of us are venting due to plans that probably were created without enough forethought. Like the man once said... "Lack of planning on my part doesn't constitute an emergency on yours"

Growing pains in business is a common theme. I've been through it and EA is in the midst of it now. Sometimes, it might make more sense to outsource labor or move the business to an area with better hiring prospects.

I hope you guys can get it worked out. This is something that can kill a business. Best wishes.

Well..he was using someone in the US to cut the steel previously. Maybe continue to use them?

Additionally, I'd recommend putting a notice on their website explaining the backlog. It's such a long lead time that some will be surprised (as I was). Communication is key.

People lining up to buy your stuff & willing to wait for longer lead times is rarely a bad sign on the selling end of things. Might be a manufacturing bottleneck. All things considered I'd rather have people waiting to buy my stuff than not having anybody to buy it.

I think if you read EA,s post above it explains the delay pretty well.I was not surprised by there delays with some of the today Millennials who are flat azz lazy and don"t want to work.Makes it very Hard to run a business.

Do not over look the used market. Have a brother in law who was almost given a Gannon (price was very low) as the owner no longer had need for it. Great blade. Light weight is really for light work. It takes weight and the right angle to cut dirt.

We have the best tools to cut the steel and a long string of Miller welders to melt it together. The move to our new facility and a big holdup with our paint booth really caused a bottleneck and we're slowly digging out of it. Slowly is the keyword, but it isn't from a lack of effort. I sat back and this thread kept eating at me, so I wanted to provide you guys with an explanation.

Here is the newest addition. This laser is the reason we do not have to outsource tube cutting anymore. When I say outsource, we were ordering USA tubes from a USA company. All of the tubes were already laser cut to the needed length with all of the necessary holes/tabs in place. Now, we can efficiently do it in house. This thing can really keep the round and square tube components stocked.

It even etches the tubes for precision placement of our drum style plugger spoon holders.

Been looking at used for a while now...2 months before I even found a tractor. It's mostly TSC junk with people asking 85% of new list. No thanks.
