I have a Ford 1720 compact tractor and recently my hydraulics have began to "bounce". Boxblade, hay spear with roundbale, or rake on 3pt all bounce about 3-6 inches at a rate of about one time per second. I have checked my hydraulic fluid levels and changed my hydraulic fluid filter with no improvement.

Any ideas?????

You are seeing the regen on the ckt after leakdown.. Not sure if ford is still using a unloading style setup.. but that is how they presented leaks as well.. ckt lifted and then shutoff.. then ckt leaked down.. at a certain leakdown, internal linkage was activated to regen ckt.. etc.

usual leaks were the cyl oring.. or the check valve. If your's has an inspection cover to look into the hyds section.. get a mirror on a stick and look at the mouth of the cyl and see if it pukes oil under a heavy load making the 3pt 'bob'.

As Soundguy said, the "hiccuping" 3PH is normally due to leakage. If you raise a load and then shut the tractor off, the load should slowly go to the ground due to the leak. You said the load moves 3-6" and that is due to the load being far behind the arms where the movement is magnified. If you look at the arms where they going into the tractor, they are probably only moving slightly. It only takes a small leak to produce this action.

I would put a load on it an shut off the tractor to time how long it takes to drop. That will tell you how bad the leak is. If you don't do anything that requires small 3PH position movments, you might just let it go. Many tractors have the "hiccups" and it will probably only get worse over time.
