what is a 4 in 1 bucket?

/ Bought My First JD, Any Last Word of Advice? #12
The R4's on my 4310 are loaded with beet juice and I have more problems with the front tires cutting up the lawn in the spring than the rears. Loaded tires lower the center of gravity and would be really helpful on hilly terrain. It's like the rears are the correct width and the fronts are too narrow. However, if they were any wider they would hit the MMM when turning.

This is also very basic but check your transmission/hydraulic oil and engine oil often during the first few uses then after 10 hours or daily if need be.

ebeb,

Congratulations on the new rig!
Couple more suggestions for you,
If you want to do the fifty hour service yourself, and save both time and money, you may want to go ahead and get enough engine and hydraulic oil now. When you can have the dealer bring them out with the tractor, instead of having a 45 minute trip later.
Also, I haven't bought one yet, but I will, a full shop manual is real nice if you are going to try any repairs on your own. I'll get mine when the warranty runs out.
Depending upon how picky you are, a couple of cans of touch up paint can come in real handy, both green, and yellow.
If you can weld, it's real easy to convert the 3 pt. drawbar into a receiver hitch, just buy a 2" receiver tube, cut a couple of pieces of 2" angle the proper height for uprights, and a piece of 1/4" plate, weld them all together and bolt onto the drawbar, presto/chango, instant trailer mover for about $25.00.
OK, I know, that was more than a couple, I get started and can't stop.
Sorry so long,

DT

like the paint idea, and I will be sure I have enough for my first oil and hydro changes

not much of a welder so I will hold off on that one.

any last ideas out there on what to be sure I get in my goody basket?

John Deere All Purpose cleaner. I use it all the time at the dealer to clean the inside of tractor cabs and the mowers on lawn tractors. Use a potato scrubber and the all purpose on the deck to make it look like new. Then hose it off with water. It does remove grease on metal very well. Try it! I also like to use JD hand cleaner soap. It comes in a little tub as a paste like jelly and it works and smells great. It gets spray paint off my hands easily as well as grease.

I know I mentioned this before, but I think it's important enough to reiterate that you really should consider getting two grease guns. Keep one with the rigid pipe, and put the flex hose on the other. I had only one gun for a long time, and I always found that I needed both to do a job. There's nothing messier than haveing to change-out in the middle of a job just to get it through it.
On the other hand, it may turn out that you can hit all of the fittings on your tractor with only one gun. Try it when you get the tractor. Do a once over on all the fittings and start out wth the rigid pipe, if you find that you can do them all without a flex hose, great, if not, run, don't walk to buy the second gun and flex hose from the start.
