I don't know how anybody can use a dull axe for anything except splitting. It's like trying to use a dull knife.

I used fiskar axes and sharpen them a bit after each use. A sharp axe is your friend and a good tool to have. Not meant or made for splitting

Isn't that just how J is pronounced in Scandanavia? A Jotul stove is also pronounce "yotul".

As far as dull knives go, I don't know what my wife does to them. I'll sharpen kitchen knives so they'll actually cut something, next time I go to use one it's dull as a butter knife.

The "Dull Steel Kitchen Knife" is the reason I had to try something different,,
when we want "SHARP", I use a ceramic knife,,
it is like using a new razor, but is sharp FAR longer than you would expect, considering its little cost .

Perhaps not how *you* pronounce a Y, but it's about how it's pronounced in English - at least, how it's pronounced at the beginning of a word.

It is known a bronze age axe made in XII-IX a. BC, found in the West of Prussia, in the village named Nortikiai. Prussians was the Baltic tribe related to Lithuanians, Latvians. The scientists state it's a typical Baltic fighting axe (google translator could be applied). My competence is too low to state, has it the features of Scandinavian axe or not.

I'd not used or own a sharp and proper axe, until I went through the NFS sawyer course. In it, they require a sharp one to be in sawyer tool kit for pounding wedges or emergency bar removal. My gosh, you really can cut wood with them when they are sharp! I now have three.
