I remember seeing a great ad for Boston Whalers as a kid that said just that. The picture was of a smaller Whaler that had been cut up into three pieces with the pieces floating in the water right next to each other in the correct relative order (bow, amidships, stern). There was a guy sitting in each piece of the boat with the appropriate "accessories" (fishing pole, oars, outboard, etc). Funny ad but it made the point...

I was reading the other day in a classic auto magazine. The artical was about how the demographics have changed. In the 60s and 70s which were very family oriented times a young family would put their play money into a small ski boat/runabout. My parents did and of course all their friends and each weekend was a great party up the river. Now, according to the artical a family such as they are now is more likely to spend disposable income on a Harley or a classic car. I think some of it is that along with the change in spending patterns peoples expectations have gotten out of hand. My parents and all their equals did not buy boats that cost as much as a house. They had little 14/15/16 foot runabouts with 50 to 100 horses. Now boats cost as much as a house and family units cannot afford them. J
