Hey guys,

I have a couple Ford 445 blocks around the farm and three new 4.400” standard pistons from a 4500 on the shelf.

The bore to stroke on a 445 is 4.200” x 4.400”
Can I bore this block to accept 4.400” pistons without sleeving it? I’m doing the machining myself and not sure if I have to order sleeves before I start this winter project.

Thanks,
Andy

Are you saying you want to install 3 larger pistons in an engine? If so, I'd say_yes order new cyl liners the right size.
Boring a sleeve .200" oversize would be a disaster waiting to happen. IMO

Some info on the Ford 445 blo;ck

The maximum bore diameter for a Ford 445 block is 4.080 inches. The 445 stroker is a street-brawler engine based on a 390 block that has been machined to this size.
