GlennT, I agree with you and Bird - I much prefer a paper copy, too. But the book is good enough that it's a bargain and definitely worth going to the trouble of downloading and either printing or reading on-screen.

Plans to publish a printed version, yes ... but right now I can't say when exactly. For one, the book will be revised and improved before a printed version is offered ... ideally, it would be available for the spring buying season, so that would give me about 8-12 weeks to do the revision, plus get it ready for press. We'll see but it is planned ... just can't say when yet. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Muhammad: Wonderful!! If it would help solidify your plans to publish a print copy and you have a price in mind, I would be happy to purchase a copy in advance of publication as an indication of good faith.

Muhammad - I'm in, I'm in! Can I contribute some information on EarthForce mini-TLBs, the most versatile piece of equipment there is? /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Don't tell me you're now considering that EarthForce to be a "compact tractor."/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif You may have to wait until Muhammad writes his next book on buying construction equipment./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Bird - Well, let's see now... "Compact" definitely fits, because the EF-5 is not a lot bigger than my L4310 was, and there's 5 models smaller than it is. As for "tractor", the first word represented by its label "TLB" is "Tractor". What is a "tractor"? Does it have to have a 3-point hitch? Many owners of older American-made farm equipment would beg to differ. I think it qualifies, personally. After all, the reason I bought one is that it "out-tractors" one of the best "tractors" in existence. What do you think?

Mark, I guess I'm inclined to think in terms of what I'm familiar with. As you describe it, I couldn't disagree with you; just that the Earthforce looks more to me like serious construction equipment (something you'd see on construction sites) instead of something you'd see on a farm or being used by a homeowner, which of course, certainly doesn't exclude it from the category of "compact tractor". Sometimes hard to "compartmentalize" some things./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Bird - I understand your thoughts completely, because that's pretty much exactly the way I view them. They are more "commercial" in design than a typical CUT, but they're capable of doing pretty much the same jobs, albeit in somewhat different fashion, e.g. with a front mounted implement instead of a rear mounted one, in the case of blades, tillers, etc. (And haven't we all bought something of "commercial" quality because the "standard" quality wasn't good enough?) In the size I've got, though it's physically much smaller than a typical TLB, it has to be compared with them in terms of capabilities. But in the smaller sizes, it doesn't compare to anything else, except CUTs. Maybe they're an entirely new breed of equipment, but I don't know that I'd go quite that far. On the other hand, if the CUT is an entirely different breed than the small farm tractor, maybe the EarthForce is in a category of one. Either way, as I've said before, I've been predicting all along that there will soon be competition from the "major players". I got a private e-mail from a TBN member last week, in which I was told that dealers for a "major player" were shown a piece of equipment that they were actually told was designed to compete with EarthForce machines. If it's true, and I have no doubt it is, it will mean very big changes in the "Compact Tractor" market, as it will force everyone to reconsider what they think of when they think of CUTs.

Mark, as fast as things are changing (doesn't matter whether you're talking about cars, trucks, tractors, computers, or hundreds of other things), I sure won't be surprised. Amazed maybe, but not surprised./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
