Bolt on pallet forks

Looking into bolt on pallet forks for lifting about 300 # of diesel containers on a pallet.

One person says they're "junk". Yeah, for maybe heavier loads.

Pallet forks are $1200 to go in place of the FEL, on the FEL lift arms. Bolt on ones are only about $90 and LOTS easier to store when not needed.

Don't really have much use for them except for the rare times I have to go get diesel for the generator.

What's your experience with them?
I have quick disconnect, Skid Steer bucket spec'd. fittings on my Branson and LS loaders. I bought a Skid Steer attachable, 48" 4000#rated (printed in big white letters on a black implement) for around $400 back in 2016 when I bought one of my new tractors, from the tractor dealer. I doubt that the price has inflated to $1200.

Prior to buying that I got a set of 48" bucket clamp on forks with spacer alignment bar (slides over the forks to assist in keeping them from twisting when stabbing a pallet or whatever) off ebay for maybe a couple hundred bucks...don't remember but wasn't all that much. They work ok if you get then good and tight and be careful but the fork is made from 2x4 boxed steel with a 60 degree sloping tip. Problem with this vs the regular pallet fork implement is that the pallet fork blade is thin and can easily slide under objects to be lifted. The clamp ons make this a problem requiring work around alternatives.

There's a fellow on ebay that sells a set of forks with a bracket that hold them from twisting. They also have a slot with bolt holes for adding 2X4s for vertical support behind the load. I bought a set 10 years ago and count it as one of my all time best purchases. It made my move to the country a breeze and I use them twice a week to take the trashcan down to the road. For a man with a very bad back, this has saved me from a lot of pain. There is no doubt in my mind that bucket forks are an essential item around the property.

For what you want, they should be fine. I have a set and use them all the time but they're a pain if you use them all the time. I should have gotten a regular set of SSQA forks but my use case is different from yours.

I will say that once you get a set, you'll find all kinds of jobs to do with them, at which point you'll wish you went for a regular set (ask me how I know!)

I got a great deal on overstock forks from netforks and made these that I can attach to the 3 point or the bucket. This lets me lift heavy things with the 3 point and stack small hay bales with the bucket.

This works for me now, but "next time" I'm getting a tractor with a quick change bucket.

Ralph, Joe Batt and Vigo make a good suggestion: rear forks. Kubotas will lift a lot more with the rear, and the rear forks can be easier to put on and detach. They also can easily accommodate a homemade platform and become a carry-all.

I had a set for years that I used for moving round hay bales. They had a small spike but the arms were long enough that the spike didnt have to come into play. I think I got it at TSC and it was made by Countyline.

You still might need help getting the tips of the forks under pallets. And mine were not adjustable in terms of fork width. The tines did fit most pallets, as I recall. I think it was called a carry-all but was most applicable for hay. I did throw a sheet of plywood on mine for hauling other things but never built the platform I wanted.

I own Titan forks. Excellent quality. BTW, they have a load range, so you get to customize.

I have a pair of bolt on pallet forks. Certainly not as good as the real thing, but I have a pin on bucket so switching wouldn't be that easy. And I'm not going to pay to have my FEL converted.

They've done everything I've asked. My pallet forks have a higher weight capacity than my FEL does, so I've never felt that I was going to damage my FEL in any way. If its too heavy my FEL just won't lift it.

Different tractor that might be different.

If you could keep it in one thread it would be less confusing,

Honest as all out - just get the fork attachment cause once you have it, it will wonder why it took you so long to get one - the use around the property is unending!!! I am so happy with having done so when I was considering exactly what you as contemplating - I actually got the 2000lbs rated set (more than my lift capability) and just based on their performance, glad I didn't the 900lb rated one. Cheers
