So I bought the hooks from KennyD in 2014, but the Kioti bucket has a square tube along the front for added strength. Some LS buckets have this too. Which means I need 3 1/2 inch bolts instead of the 1 1/2 inch bolts provided. And I finally remembered I needed them WHILE I WAS AT THE STORE! (hey, are you laughing?)

Here are all the parts for 1 hook, including the new longer bolts:

Being as it is mounting through a tube, there could be some concern over deformation when torqueing the bolts. But check that wall thickness in the drilled hole... two layers on top of the bucket, though only 1 layer on the bottom.

After drilling the holes all the way through the tube I used a bigger bit to remove burrs:

Then checking for correct fit (nothing tightened yet):

In the above pic you can see how the bucket wraps around the tube, below you can see that the wraparound is only about a half inch on the underside. I set my hooks back from the bucket edge to avoid any uneven surfaces for the washers.

Front of bucket is at top of photo, bolts go through just the tube itself, set back from the overlap:

Now I just need to find something to chain down!

Last, some gratuitous advertising 'cause I'm pleased with the results:

Nice looking install. I bought the hydraulic pressure tester and weld on hooks from Ken a few weeks back and will be welding the hooks on shortly.

Dave, first thing that comes to mind to use those hooks for would be when you are unloading all those different implements that you need to get.

We should get together and make a list for ourselves. Save on shipping and all that. ;)

I've bought 6 of Ken's bolt on. 3 are on my bucket, one one each of my bh buckets and I put one on my brother's kioti bucket. I just bought a ssqa fork setup so I might need 2 more!

great product, ken !

Nice work! I was lazy, I bolted my hooks behind that square tube, didn't want to buy longer bolts as I had the shorter ones plus the extra labour! Lol. Note I used a spare set of hooks that came off the front of my Jeep. Wish I could get KennyD stuff up here but the Canadian dollar doesn't make it cost effective. :(

Not a bit - I have that same problem - A LOT

Being as it is mounting through a tube, there could be some concern over deformation when torqueing the bolts. But check that wall thickness in the drilled hole... two layers on top of the bucket, though only 1 layer on the bottom.

I had kinda always wondered about that. Dad ended up welding ours to the inner lip of the bucket but I don't think we'll ever have to worry about creasing / bending that box now.

Very nice write-up.

I've been thinking about getting some of Ken's hooks for my Branson but I'm a little concerned about the configuration of the top of the bucket. The top of the bucket is formed by two pieces of steel, but they're not parallel. If I drilled through them both, I'd need some kind of shim or angled spacer to get the force distributed evenly between the two faces.

Instead of doing that, I can just mount the hooks about three inches down on the back of the bucket. It's just one thickness of steel there. Other than scratching up the top of my bucket with the chain, is there any reason I shouldn't do this?

I've looked at a lot of pictures of these things but can't find an example of anyone doing what I'm proposing which is why I'm asking.

Thanks!

Can you post some pictures of your Branson bucket please?
