I have an M series 750 that I use for mulching. The plastic grates on the side of machine have been replaced several times due to branches smacking them. I have had to replace little things like I always due but for the most part, Bobcat got it right. I am not convinced that glass on the outside of the steel mesh is a good idea, however. I have had a few hard "smacks" and thought I was going to lose the window.
I have my lights covered with expanded metal which helps a lot. Other than lights and dual path cooling covers, there isn't a lot of exposed plastic. These machines are the heaviest yet and built well. I use mine in extremely difficult terrain with heavy attachments and/or handling very large logs and stumps and it does a great job. With that said, there are some after-market options the dealer can install that will help protect the few soft spots like lights, keel access, and there is even a lexan window option.
