Bobcat S185

I do agree with all the comments. I remarks came for my situation. I have 52 acres that is mostly woods and gravel roads. I have 7 1/2 acres of some what rough horse pasture and no finished yard around the log home. What little grass I have near the cabin can be cut with a string trimmer. The projects I have planned are build new pastures, clearing a food plot for the deer & turkey, installing property line fence, fencing more pasture and clearing all the dead pines that the beatles killed. As you can see from this todo list, it's more rough work than finish work.

<font color="blue"> I used to use a New Holland LS 170 with grouser tracks when i worked for another company.. pain in the arse! </font>

Some time back I saw a link here to a company that modified large new Holland tractors and equipped them with grouser tracks and plows for snow removal for ski resorts and such.

Since I have never seen such a tractor work, I wondered just how well they might hold up in a situation where your life might be dependent on them to stay together as planned.

Anyway to me it really didn't look like something that would be a lot of fun to work on in sub-zero temperatures should a track be thrown off.

My LS180 Skid Steer has never thrown a track. If your in a lot of slick mud you may get a little tire slip inside the track but they never come off. When is comes to pushing snow or working dirt a Skid Steer is far more effective than a tractor with a FEL. The twin stick Zero Turn HST drives make it not even a fair race for a tractor. Frankly after last week, (cleared 1/2 acres of thick thick thick under brush & med. sized trees) I love working in the SS. When using a brush cutter you have a HD laxan front door, and the existing cab covers all the other sides and top, so your out of the cold and you don't get slapped by all them branches and briars. What a pleasure...

Yea, I started it last week but I couldn't find a good picture so I just left the code so I could insert image later.....

I'll have to get on it.

Thanks,

I guess Bobcat changed their naming conventions in the past couple years. Here is my Bobcat 873 with my latest attachment -- I bought the SSL in late 2001 It has a Kubota 73 HP engine.

Here is another shot with my little foreman.

Dave, You got to love your Skid Steer..... I really enjoy working mine. My little foreman is now 19 and in college but my little jack russell can't wait to get in and push dirt and trees.
