:) Members, I am new to your site. I enjoy reading all the comments from all of you. Some of you have very interesting and very helpful information.
I have a problem I need some help on to any knowable member. I have a Bobcat F 863. with a fuel leak. When I pour fuel in the top inlet I have fuel leaking out the bottom. I have been told the tank has a hole in it that causing the leak. Could there be any other problem causing the leak?

I have been informed if the tank has a hole the engine will have to be removed to replace the fuel tank.

Pretty sure an 863 is a skid-steer and belongs under the construction equipment.

There is a fuel tank drain. It is accessed from under the machine. There is a retangular plate bolted to the frame, remove the plate to inspect the drain. If it is not leaking out the drain plug then tank has to be removed, yes it sets under the engine so engine has to come out.

Thanks you for your reply, I have checked the drain Plug and it is tight. I yes it is a hole in the tank. Have you ever replaced a tank before? I am wondering if I can do this job or should I refer this to a dealer? Again thank you for your reply.

Thank you for your reply. Have you ever pulled the engine on a Bobcat as the 863 F series? I have been told it will talk 10 hours to pull the engine, replace the tank and reinstall the engine. Can any of you know if this is true.

That's very close in time. Usually runs 10 -15 hrs. depending on dealer's shop facilty and previous experience.

Thanks again for your reply. so you are suggesting that a dealer to this job instead of me. I have the equipment to pull this engine unless it will take some special tools. Is this what you are referring to.

its not hard to remove the engine to replace the fuel tank. you can replace the tank in one day

Yes you can remove engine yourself, no special tools needed. 2 days of skinned nuckles and it should be operational.

removing the engine is easy if you have a lift available

If you are up to the task and decide to do it yourself.....please take some pictures along the way and show us your progress. Lots of us would like to see how the fuel tank is replaced. It's a shame it was put into a location that requires an engine removal to get to it...yikes!!!
