I have a 1963 Massey Fergusion 65 diesel that the crank case breather discharges in the front bolster area next to the crank pulley.
Is there any reason i couldn't reroute it to the air intake ? This machine has a oil bath air cleaner. The tractor does not smoke but has moderate blow by.

Great machine, had it's younger brother T035 for decades. why are you wanting to reroute crankcase blow by? belt contamination?

why not reroute it to rear of tractor rather than intake?

Dad had a 70d JD and had oil leaks that the dealer could not seem to stop so another dealer suggested a line from the valve cover to the air intake. The tractor ran for many years after that with no oil leaks.
When I worked for a MM dealer we took a hose from the valve cover to the air intake manifold to keep the oil leaks down. It worked very well.
Usually on a Perkins they have very little blowby and have found when they have a lot of blowby the engine needs repaired.
With that said and you may not want to spend money on repair then why not return the blowby to the air intake? Just don't use a huge hose/line to do so.

Just a warning --- a diesel engine is compression ignition and will run on oil or fuel that enters the engine thru the air intake. If the engine gets enough "fuel" it can run on that fuel and you will not be able to shut it off by normal means. This is what is called a runaway diesel. And why two stroke Detroits have an emergency shut off, which consists of a flap that closes off the air to the blower.

On that era Perkins diesel it’s just a simple draft tube system, not a sealed crankcase setup like modern engines.
You could reroute it to the intake, but with moderate blow-by you’ll likely end up pulling oil mist into the oil bath cleaner and making a mess. Also, the crankcase needs to vent freely — restricting it too much can create pressure and start pushing oil past seals.
If your goal is just to keep the bolster cleaner, a better option is extending the breather tube down lower or adding a small catch can/separator before it vents.
