I am looking for a 6 ft adj blade scraper (w/ tilt) that would be compatible with my Kubota L3100 with a QH15 quick hitch system. The obvious solution is a (new) Land Pride model RB1672 but I was wondering if there are other brands other than Land pride that will work with the quick hitch.

The issue is the top link. The QH15 - and possibly ALL other brands of quick hitch systems (??) - requires clear vertical access to the top pin from the bottom so the quick hitch will engage as it's raised.

My recently sold, 30 yr-old, Bush Hog brand grading blade did not allow for this clear bottom access to the top link which was not compatible with the QH. I first had an extension fabricated as a work around for the blade, but it changed the angle and was more trouble to use than simply removing the QH and attaching the blade manually.

Some Questions:

1. Is clear vertical access to the top link from the bottom, generally required for ALL quick hitch systems, regardless of brand?

2. If so, can I assume that most modern (new) implements are designed to be compatible with quick hitch systems?

3. Can anyone define "modern" implements - i.e.: how long have quick hitch systems for compact utility tractors been around?

I have owned a tractor for over 30 yrs and recently downsized to my Kubota L3100 HST, with a homemade carry-all and a box scraper that are compatible with the QH15. I really like the QH concept.

I'll probably wind up buying the Land Pride unit, but I was wondering how long I should shop for an alternative.

Thanks for any comments, observations or advice!

Have you contacted Everything Attachments?
Their 6 Way Deluxe Scrape Blade is a wonderful piece of equipment, and may be a bit less costly than the Land Pride.

No I haven't. Thanks for the advice, I'll check them out.

update:
Yes that scraper is similar to my old Bush Hog and I really liked that design - which is able to angle the entire support beam in addition to just the blade. That gives you a lot more angle options for things like cutting a ditch.

But, it also appears to have a steel reinforcement plate just behind the top link (whereas my Bush Hog had a similar reinforcing plate just below the top link.) I doubt it would work with my quick hitch system which has a rather wide - or deep - top hook

I have a Land Pride rotary cutter and a Land Pride rear blade and a Everything Attachments Landscape Rake and they all fit my Speeco Quick hitch . The implement should have a upper spot for a top link pin and below that should be bushing for use with the quick hitch. The main problem with most QH is the bolts that attach the top hook hit the imp!ement, so either buy an extended top hook or do what I did and tack weld 2 pins in place (all 3 of my implements fit the same so no need of adjustments)

I put Cat 1-2 and Cat 2-3 bushings on all my implements so they fit nicely in the QH hooks.

After I installed my Agri-Supply Quick Hitch, it took longer to write this post than it did to hook up my EA 8' ED Grader Blade.

Of the five 3ph implements that I had when I bought the QH, only the EA grader blade fit the QH. I had to modify every other implement in order for it to fit.

Some were easy like my Bushhog 286 rotary cutter, the rock rake and disc were fairly easy; my LMC box blade was a massive PITA. But it's all good now.

My sixth 3ph implement will also fit my QH. How do I know this when it hasn't even been delivered yet? Simple: EA.

I did. I emailed them today and asked for some information on clearances.
Also did they have any experience with Kubota QH15 used with it?
I expect to talk to them Monday.

I got excited until i realized you were using "QH" in the general sense instead of the Kubota QH15 that I actually have. :)

Well I am hoping the EA 60" blade will work with my QH. There's a possibility it will. the problem with my old Bush Hog blade is that it had a reinforcing plate just underneath the top link pin, which was a very hard work around.

The EA blade has a similar reinforcing plate to the rear of the top link pin (at least as far as I can tell from their photos). In other words, if my QH top hook will fit between that reinforcing plate and the top link pin, it should work. I am hoping to talk to them Monday and sort this out.

Otherwise, I really like the design of the EA, which looks pretty much like my old Bush Hog scraper. Specifically, you can angle not only the blade but the shaft that connects the blade independently. The Kubota blade (RB1671) has a fixed blade shaft and offset can be adjusted only be unbolted and moving the blade 12" in either direction. That's huge IMO.

So, I am pretty much determined to make my QH15 work. If I can't, I'll sell it and buy a QH that will. I'm pretty confident I can make it work. And not buying the blade I really want because my QH won't easily handle it is sort of like the tail wagging the dog. ;)

My QH15 works perfectly on my EA landscape rake.

I have Pat's quick hitches on my 3000 and 3910. Proven performer. Lots of sellers. If you decide on such, ensure that you get the spacer bar WITH your hitch purchase......some suppliers sell the hitches without it and charge for it as an extra..... Pat's adapts to any dimension 3 pt, is extremely easy and fast to engage implement, set the top link to the desired length and away you go. Matters not the dimensions of your selected implement and my implements ALL seem to have different dimensions.

One neat thing about them is that you can have tight chains on your lift arms, like came on older Fords, MFs, and others and don't have to undo them, or have sloppy chains to get the lift arm wide enough to fit over the end of the implement pin....you just back up to the implement, set the width with the width bar, back up to the implement pushing against it to like up the pins side to side, lift, the locks engage automatically, let it down, connect and set the top link, REMOVE your spacer bar, hook up you PTO if equipped and be on your way.

Are they the same?

I have no idea.

I image that most all QH's are pretty much the same dimensionally, but (I think) the top hook can vary some in the width/depth of the "U" than forms the hook from brand to brand.

My QH15 works perfectly on my EA landscape rake.

Good info. Thanks!

I'll ask EA if the top links are the same on the blade and rake.

Is it a new model? I ask because they specifically say on their EA blade site: "Now compatible with quick hitches" so presumably, the earlier models weren't.

My Speeco is a battle with pretty much everything I have..some have to use the hook others have to use the adapter..

I suggest altering the attachment rather than the QH to resolve problems. By doing so you will encourage a standard within your equipment.

Can be easy, can be hard, can be a massive PITA to modify implements.

But, it's what I did and I thank myself every day I use my implements. The whole point of Quick Hitch is the Quick.

I agree. I've not removed the QH from my Kubota since I installed it.

I certainly wasn't questioning your method. Simply saying altering the QH might make it unfriendly when hitching to an implement that is manufactured with usable QH capabilities.

Same here 3 tractors, 3 brands of QH. Who knows maybe all made by same overseas company. 1st QH was a speedco, wouldn't work with Land Pride blade, bottom hooks 1/4" to close. Took 2 - 10ton hydraulic jacks base to base and spread hooks 3/8" further. Ended up about 1/4" with jacks removed. Only other QH mods, angle grinder to remove paint slightly widen top hook (use top hook pin with cat1/2 and cat2/3 top hook bushings for no slop fit on top hook)

A little late, but thanks so much for your advice!

I bought an EA 6 blade and drove up to pick it up at their factory.

I am very impressed with the quality, which is comparable to my old Bush Hog brand blade (which says a lot).

And like you said, the price was about the same as the the Land Pride blade - which wouldn't have done the jobs I needed in the first place (ditch/swale/driveway maintenance). It's a far superior blade for what I need. I am really glad I hesitated before investing in the Land Pride blade and consulted this forum. EA was a real discovery for me.

I still have a Land Pride box scraper, which is very useful for my landscaping projects. Right now, I need both. But the scraper is a long term thing.
