Steph took a picture of a bird she couldn't idetify either. She had it in her head it was a female indigo bunting, but when looking at her other bunting pics, she realized the beeks were totally different and this bird was allot bigger.
She joined www.birdforum.net and posted some pictures of birds. She got replies within minutes and they all agreed, it was a blue grosbeak.
She's a birder nut now and is taking pictures of birds, or anything that moves for that matter, all the time now. I know you don't have any pics of these birds, but you have a good detailed description. Maybe posting it on that site will give you some ideas?
