i read in another thread that bio diesel all but eliminates the clatter of a diesel engine. is that true?

No, but it does have a great lubricity than regular diesel so that might account for a little bit, but likely only a very little bit, of reduced clatter. Although each brand of engine is different so different brands may clatter more or less noticably? Cowboydoc uses it on his ranch if I recall correctly. We tried to use it in our truck fleet but found the closest biodiesel was too far away to switch our fleet over and we don't have a central fuel depot on the property.

I'm with Bob on that one. I don't think the fuel would reduce clatter much. Also, biodiesel is usually sold as a blend (of bio and dino fuel) I believe, so different blends could have different properties as well. I would love to find an outlet for it here in East Texas. But I think dino fuel will have to go up a lot more before the refining costs of bio make it economically viable.
