I believe Peral Harbor was a tactical strike, not an invasion.

A small footnote on that fateful day...

He was cleared, yet that still had to weigh heavy on his mind.

Getting back to the original post; I wouldn't be surprised if any and all charges are dropped.

We already have. However, you still need to follow the state's laws that you're traveling through.

I would just not reccomend stopping in a state while traveling if you know the state has strict gun laws.

Also keep in mind, even if you are following the state's law, that does not prevent you from being arrested (why you don't stop IMO).
Certainly good advice if you can transit a state without stopping for gas:) Irony is a hoot.

Best,

Best,
As long as your are following the letter of the law, stopping for gas isn't an issue unless you make it an issue.

When I drove like 15-20 minutes through Maryland on 81, I didn't take about the same amount of time to pack and lock my gear in West Virginia and then only unpack it in Pennsylvania because I had to get gas, I did it because if something out of my control like an accident where I was involved, I would be "legal" traveling through the state.

You drive anywhere through any state "legal" with firearms and become involved in the small chance of an accident where you become incapacitated, if you aren't legal, waking up in the hospital is the least of your worries.

Now, if I were to run Massachusetts or NY with firearms in the car, I would not stop unless I had to for fuel (I would also drive the speed limit if by some small chance a LEO is bored).

Being that these guys were from Rhode Island driving through Massachusetts on what should be a short "drive through", it's inconceivable to me why they had to stop on the side of the road at 0100 to fill up the van with gas. Heck, if anything, you're more inconspicuous filling up at a gas station at that time in the morning than on the interstate with your flashers on.

Come to think of it, their (guys who caused all the commotion) timing was more than stupid. If they pulled over at 0100 for gas, what time did they leave Rhode Island? Like 20:00?

Heck, even when we did road trips out to Montana or Idaho from the east coast, we'd always leave in the morning. Who plans a plus 5 hour driving trip after working hours unless you have to deal with work and it's a family function or work itselfand you HAVE to be there???

Lots of things these yahoos did doesn't make any sense. I have a couple of buddies who drive up to Maine from NC for bear season up there, and no one has ever had a problem on the drive up. That said, perhaps not being decked out in "tatic cool" gear may have something to do with it LOL

I'm surprised.

You're closer to Mass than I am, and I can't see anyway where the state of Massachusetts's isn't going to throw the book at these guys.

End of day, Mass is just like NY, NJ and Md. They don't screw around when out of staters break their gun laws driving with firearms in the vehicle. If anything, these guys deserve to be made an example of as long as they did break the state law they were driving through.

I had reasons for that comment but you did ask that we don't turn this political, and I think that's a good idea.

The Moors or Moorish do not recognize Federal or State Laws.

What is amazing is if you watch that FB video by their "leader" during the standoff, for a guy who doesn't reconize State or Federal laws, he was spouting off a few for his defense.

This is where I believe his video will hurt him than justify his "cause".

At the end of the day we have four options as to why this story played out as it did.

1- the idiot didn't do his research on interstate travel with firearms through which state he was passing through
2 -The idiot only picks and chooses what laws he thinks he thinks he should obey (which I'm certain we all do to some extent LOL).
3 - the police had no reason to suspect anything, it was a trap and everything gets thrown out in court.
4 - If the guys were really dressed like some of them were in the video planning on driving over multiple state lines, they are all idiots.

However, if the guys looked like anything from video they posted (such as below)

STUPID.png

I'm thinking anyone with common sense would say that the police had the right to be suspicious to be a little more probing as to why they were there and we can remove reason #3 🤣

I honestly did't see my comment as being political, but just a fact.

About 15 years ago, even when married I had issues with wearing a seat belt at times driving by myself. I don't believe in seat belt laws but yes, I do believe they save lives overall. I didn't like getting tickets for seat belt infractions, but I paid my fine and moved on.

I don't look at a forum as a mean to complain about laws or turn those laws political (particularly here), but the reality is you can't ignore them if they are a central part of the story posted.

Do I agree with some state laws on guns? No I don't. That said, I obey them.

Correct, yes it was.
The article I got the info from was trying to make the point that 5,000 merchant marines died in a 6 month period just few miles from shore in ‘43 at the hands of the Wolfpack and it was mostly hidden from American news media.

Your comment was fine. It was what I wrote, then deleted which crossed over the lines.
