Was wondering if I am able to get a bigger turbo on my Kubota M135X? Just want to know if I could get more power.

You might be able to raise the boost pressure, on the present turbo unit, especially if it has a waste gate installed.. Most turbos are set low enough for good power, but not high enough to cause serious engine damage..Check out how it was designed...Some have a pressure switch installed in the manifold to cut the circuit..

I'll check

Been discussed before. The consensus was that it wasn't worth the risk to your entire driveline, etc.

I'll bet it has a boost controlled waste gate which is easy to manipulate. Install a boost controller in the boost line to the waste gate. Before you do anything though it is best to install a boost gauge and I would not boost it more than 15% of the factory setting.
Most of these wastegated turbos are capable of over boosting so be careful.

you can put a bigger turbo on anything. You better be sure everything is dialed in right though. If you have a repuatble company or person that knows what they are doing than i dont see a problem. Is it worth the risk of expensive damage later and then having to go back to factory turbo when you couldve just upgraded to a bigger tractor.

If you did would you have the weight there to take advantage of the extra HP? My wife's mechanic said he turn the 5140 with a 5.9L Cummins up to 200HP but the rest of the tractor wouldn't be able to handle it and it would be light for 200HP tractor. The IH 686 with an M&W aftermarket turbo is 66HP @ the PTO stock but with the turbo on it it's been dynoed at 106HP and it handles the extra power just fine. FIL used to pull a 2 row NH Silage/Forage Cutter with it and it handled it fine.

BTW: The new M135GX coming out soon looks nice, love the cab.

I have a turbo on my M135X is there any way I could turn it up?

If you don't have some fueling upgrades a better turbo is not going to do a lot for you.

I certainly would be interested in how much better the new sysytems are?? I know the new fuel pressures are very high....You have to remember the older engines were not getting all the power from their fuel, hence the smoking issues on acceleration..You could defiintely tell when you had a turbo going out, by lack of power and by the exhaust plume??

That you would have to ask a competent diesel mechanic. If you look at some tractors you'll see them using the same block, same bore and stroke and it might vary from 120 to 200hp depending on which model you get. They have to be doing something different to each one to get should wide range of power out of the same block.

I'm curious as is others I feel like, what exactly are you trying to accomplish? More power for what application, tillage, big planters, etc. or something else?

More power requires more air (your bigger turbo) AND more fuel. It is very likely that putting just the turbo on will not get you a performance benefit. I'm not aware of how your engine is set up relative to fuel limits. It may have a transient fuel limit as a function of boost. IF you provided more boost then you may get better transient performance (acceleration) but it is doubtful that your would get more peak performance without modification of the fuel system (higher flow injectors and pump settings).
