Big Hornet

This isn't a tractor post but I am wondering if anyone has seen a hornet this big. I killed one in my tractor garage last week and this one showed up today on the screen of my cabin.

I wonder if this is one of those Asian hornets. I have never seen one near this size until this year. I am in Northern IL. The one in my garage sounded like a humming bird. Scared me when I saw what it was. I killed them both with Raid hornet spray.

It looks like a Cicada killer, and is harmless to humans.

Thanks Farmgirl. That's good news. Sure looks scary. I guess I'm a bit paranoid since I had a house painter uncle who was killed by hornets.

Oh, when they buzz near ya, they get your attention! No doubt about that! It is always nice to know that something that big isn't out to get ya!

I had a few of those around my house last year when the locusts were here (memphis area). I ran away from them fast! Then I looked them up on google and found out what they were.
