I have a home in northern NH (plenty of snow) and the driveway is just under a 1/4 mile long. Would a 2008 Kubota BX2360 23 HP with a front snowblower be adequate to snowblow the driveway? It only has 300 hours on it.

Thanks!

The BX with blower can do it. Depends on how much time you have.

BX with blower will be at least 4 passes to clear (depending on driveway width). Larger tractor and blower may be able to do it 2 passes.

Do you have room to push snow off the sides? Plowing is faster than snow blowing. The difference with 1/4 mile driveway will be significant.

I don't have much room to push the snow and I also don't want to dig up the driveway with a plow. I know I can raise it a bit like a blower buy I think throwing the snow into the woods is the way to go.

I wasn't sure if the length of the driveway and the amount of snow would take its toll on the little machine.

Thanks for the reply!

Time is the issue, the tractor will do it but the time it will take is what needs consideration..

I've used a 3-point blower and a heavy duty rear blade to clear the snow from my mile long gravel driveway. Either one took three or four passes - dependent upon snow conditions.

I've never had to clear more than twelve inches at any one time. The blower would take three hours. The rear blade takes one hour.

I'm retired so time makes no difference. What I DID NOT like - the continual fine powder snow drifting back on me when I used the blower. Also- after three hours of looking backwards( blower ) I would have a stiff neck & shoulders for the following day or so.

With the heavy duty rear blade and hydraulic top link - make whatever adjustments work best - then go like smoke & oakum.

I wasn't sure if the length of the driveway and the amount of snow would take its toll on the little machine.

Tractors are made to work - they should run at standard revs 8 hours a day for 5 days a week quite happily. Poor maintenance or abuse is more likely to kill it than using it for what it's designed to do. If you took 3 hours to blow it, and had 10 decent snowfalls a year, that's still only 30 hours a year. You'd put more hours on it mowing the lawns (which also runs wide open throttle).

Having said that, a BX does feel a little small for that job - and a cab would be really nice. All comes down to budget, time and comfort. It'll do it, a B2650 will do it faster and in the warm.

DP,
I have that same setup and I can tell you that it’s a MONSTER! I have a 500 foot driveway, so it’s shorter than yours, but that’s just a time difference.
I’m just South of Boston so we get a lot of snow too! The only thing I would say is that you may want to get a cab because that blower heaves snow!!
I have a soft cab and it’s awesome!

Good luck,
BN

This ^^ Pardon my tipsy and unqualified trolling-in, but a good friend of mine has a similar setup with his similar size/hp Massey. 4-6" of snow/pass would be a walk in the park with what you suggest. MY only experience is with what's in my profile to the left there. ('daily driver' Case/IH, Mid-Michigan snow weapon since owned ;)) t o g

btw, DP, after all these years as a member, I hope you'll have more time to participate in the forum. :)

If you have the time and BX has tire chains yep,may want to consider cab if it doesn't have one.
