A load of specialty landscape rock products arrived in my yard this morning for one of my tenants that specializes in high end design/build residences.

Very nice... would love to have a truck load of landscape rock but not have to pay for it! I could put them all to good use as I slowly landscape parts of our property.

Rock Load Part Two

Back in 1990 when I first started producing turfgrass (sod) I was in awe that some of the homes I delivered to had $100,000.00 landscape budgets.

Fast forward 30 years and now I’m seeing budgets in EXCESS of 1 million dollars for the outdoor soft and hardscapes.

Pics of specialty rock.

I’m thinking of welding up another stick man with a pair of oars and title it

Re: Big Barn痴 Retirement Farm Shop

Nice how they wrapped those rocks for shipping!

I'm sure people with such lofty landscaping budgets wouldn't want them to arrive all wet and dirty.

I’m certain they charged big time for the gift wrapping.

My landscape budget is 1,000,000, minus 4 zeros, $100. But that doesn't include diesel fuel. My boss has a large rock pit about 60 miles north of me. I wish he would let me go up and get my trailer loaded a couple of times. He has rocks there that would not fit on a flat bed. But also has excavator with hammer to split them. I love the big rocks around a place. But a flat pasture is nice and rolling hills are nice. Hey, I like it all. Just wish more of it was mine.

Rolling hills would be nice. Something relaxing about the look....

Having farmed rowcrop all my life, big flat areas remind me too much of work.

Having farmed rowcrop all my life, big flat areas remind me too much of work.

My area is mostly rolling hills. I was looking to purchase a hill to build on. I found a 38 acre farm for the right price. The plan is to fix up the house and barn, split them off with a few acres and then build on the hill. Here are some pictures from where I plan on building. I mow the area in summer and we have some gatherings up there including camping. It's certainly a nice sight to wake up to. We're excited to build up there.

Late spring/early summer before mowing the area:

During the mowing process:

I also mow trails through the rest of the land for walking around to enjoy nature:

After the mowing is done and a campfire is started:
