07 Kubota B7800
Good morning all,
I bought a B7800 last week with a BH75a backhoe as well. I don't have the operators manual for the hoe (I DO have the parts manual). Does anyone have a PDF version of the operators manual they can share? There is not one for this model at the free kubota books online site unfortunately.

Secondly...
Can anyone give a newbie like me some guidance on determining if the hoe is working at full power? For example, how does one determine what the appropriate amount of upward/downward force/power is 'normal'? Obviously the hoe is not unlimited in power, so I don't know how to tell what is too much for the hoe vs if there is a technical problem that is limiting the power of the hoe. I do know that I have a 12" metal drain pipe that has been crushed and the hoe was unable to pull the bend out of it when pulling upward. It seems to dig gunk out of drainage ditches just fine. I've not tried much else yet. Are there are any standard tests I can do to confirm if it's working properly? If it's not, I'm gonna need to use it to dig my own grave (when my wife asks why I need to repair my new expensive hoe). I've seen people mention checking the hydraulic fluid. Where is this done on the BH75a? As mentioned above, I don't have an operators manual, so I'm having to learn by trial and error.

I've got a very small amount of hydraulic fluid on the platform underneath the controls. I am thinking that something probably needs tightening up. I suppose this just makes me wonder if the leak is limiting the power somewhere.

Thanks folks!

I don't know what you paid for your tractor but $110 isn't a very big investment for both Parts and Service Manual for your backhoe. The "trial" part may be OK but the "error" part gets expensive quick. Look around and you may find a better price but Kubota does NOT give their manuals away. I'd get one for the B7800 while you are at it, at least the owner's manual so you can keep up with service.

Thanks for the feedback. I am ordering the manuals I don't have. The problem has been finding some of them. The link you supplied is the first I've been able to find a service manual for the BH75. Thank you for that. Is there a difference in service manuals between the BH75 and BH75A? The link you include only lists the BH75. If they're the same or close enough, great.

I'm trying to get any and all manuals I can amass for just such a reason. I was hoping that the owners manuals (which are often found free online in PDF) would give me some guidance on the questions I asked. I have the owners manual and parts manuals for the B7800 already. I have the parts manuals for the BH75a and LA402. I just need the owners manuals for the loader and hoe, and service manuals if I can find them. I'm happy to invest in them, but some are hard to come by. Messick's has been helpful in this, but there are some they don't appear to have, namely the service manuals for the hoe and loader.

Thanks for the help!

If you post part of this question about testing the pressure of your BH in the hydraulic section, I am sure you will quickly get some good feedback. As far as the leak when you take off the covers on your control panel you should be able to see a lot of your valve stack and maybe see a drip location. But the drip can travel and if you are checking with engine running be careful of a pressurized leak. If the leak is not in the valve body but rather a fitting and you do locate the leak and a simple tightening of a fitting does not work you can do a search on hydraulic leak and see options. One product I found for a fitting leak is call Seco seals which are very thin copper domed washers that work great to stop a simple fitting leak.

From what you described, lifting straight up with the boom is not the strongest hydraulic function compared to the bucket curl for example which is usually the strongest function and the swing the weakest on these smaller backhoes.

Like i said, post this in the hydraulic section as there are a couple of knowledable guys over there (jj & kennyd in particular) that really help out.

Thanks for the feedback.

Yes I noticed the link listed the unit without the "A". If there's a number, I'd give them a call, or talk to a Kubota Dealer about the issue, probably the best idea. I would assume a dealer could get the manual from Kubota at probably around the same price and getting to know a dealer is likely a good thing.
