Hi all,

Looking to do some light ditch work but not enough to merit a ditching bucket. I have seen what looks like a hood that fits over the teeth of a bucket and bolts on. Do these have a name or are they exclusively home made? Any info would be appreciated...

G'day Mate and welcome to TBN from Downunder.

When you say 'bucket', are you referring to a backhoe or FEL (front end loader)? I suspect that it's for a backhoe but I'd like to clarify.

I looked and all I can find is one for a rather large bucket. You didn't say what width bucket, but I gather you are talking about a smallish backhoe tractor attachment and wanting what my operator friends referred to as a cleanout bucket, or a cover for a tooth bucket that will leave a smooth even bottom of your ditch.

Have you considered removing your teeth? My BH66 bucket has 3 teeth and they bolt on. Not that I have removed them but it could be done. I find my FEL does a better job for my ditching needs in most places. I am interested in the answers to your question.

Yes I have. Also found they sell a wide tooth that would work similarly to a ditching bucket, but it's a big pain in the butt putting those on and taking them off. So not the preferred option

All the ones I've seen were custom made to fit the bucket. Try calling the bucket manufacturer to see what they have.
