My $700 PP60 will cut that no problem. I've cut thicker metal.

Would it be easier and cheaper to get a smaller brake drum? Drum forges are a pain. You can't heat a long piece of metal in the middle. I would use the drum as a firepot and set it into a tray of some sort. An overturned oil drum works good.

A cranked stick welder blows through cast iron faster than *&^*. As long as you don't mind the mess

I am planning to drill and tap the cut edge and bolt it to the under side of a metal table so i have some room around my forge for extra coal, tongs ect, so a smooth cut is important. Thanks again Ed

Tried to cut it with the 4" cutting wheels, used 8 and not half way through the thing, and it is only a little over 1/2" thick where I am cutting it. Local machine shop has a band saw that they say will cut it and for only $15, wish I had not tried to save money and called them first. Thanks guys.
