I might pick up a few attachments to help seed/fertilize my land this spring. I've done some looking around and I see that Agri-Fab and Brinly appear to be the main two manufacturors of L&G attachments. I noticed that Craftsman and Northern Tool also have some with their names on them... not sure if they make them though.

I was just wondering if anyone had an opinion on who makes a well built product. I'm probably looking at a spreader and maybe another attachment or two. My B-I-L has a cart and dethatcher (don't know the brand) and they look pretty cheap. If I spend the money I'd rather get equipment that'll hold up for years to come.

Thanks.

Not at all heavy duty by my standards, but Precision Products [RedDevil and Rugid brands at TSC] looked much heavier than AgriFab when I was looking for a seeder and aerator [or combination] for my LT.

Actually, the Menards aerator made the AgriFab look heavy, but I had to go with the Rugid. After being drug around my "yard" while trying evey speed and weight (up to several hundred pounds) for best peneatration, it doesn't seem to show wear, so must be pretty tough. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Just my opinion, but Earthway makes a very good broadcast spreader and a decent one row planter.

JRCO makes some quality and innovative equipment as well.

Millcreek Mfg. makes top dressers and spreaders as well but might be bigger than you were looking for.

Other quality manufacturers would be Parker for lawn sweepers, MacKissic for wood chippers, Bluebird for airators, and Deere, Toro, Simplicity, Wheelhorse, Kubota and Cub Cadet dealers also have their own "branded" lines of attachments, usually better quality than what you might find at the typical "Box" store. Please keep in mind that the above recommended manufactures are not the only ones out there, just ones I am familiar with, and also keep in mind that these items might be MUCH more expensive than Agrifab or Brinly.

Wow; that definitely looks heavier than the ones that I seen in the Sears stores around here. Any idea who manufactures it? Do they have an entire line of heavier lawn equipment? I'm partial to a single lever lift, but that may be a personal preference.

Sure like the looks of some of the mfgs Bontai Joe linked! It seems like a few of those names came up on ebay when I was searching for lawn tools last summer, my vague memory of prices says they hold their value well.

No idea who makes it. I was surprised too when I saw that Sears sold it.

The finish is powder coated and the hardware is grade 8 at least 3/8in in diameter, some at 1/2 inch!

Has all the features I wanted in a core aerator:
- spring loaded tines
- clusters rotate independently to minimize tearing of your grass
-160# capacity
- 3 yr warranty (!)

Yea the two levers are a PIA but I really don't mine it. I did replace the simple drilled pins/spring pin (used to hold the wheel assemblies up/down) with a nicer self-contained spring pin-latch.
