Bench Grinder to Belt Conversion

/ Bench Grinder to Belt Conversion #11
I looked into doing a belt conversion on my Craftsman 3/4 HP bench grinder but I use both sides. I don't need a wide belt, just something to burnish and take the burrs off small parts. I shopped around for a separate unit and was turned off at the prices.

Last year, I found this one on sale at Amazon for $75:

It was well reviewed but I was skeptical about the size and HP. I've been using it for a year now and it has exceeded my expectations. It doesn't take up much bench space and it stows easily when not needed. It's also heavy enough where it doesn't move around on the bench when in use.

Not much help for those who want a wider belt though.

I don’t even see a use for my wheel grinder any more since getting a belt sander. Wish I did it many years ago.

I picked this little unit up a couple weeks ago. They had quite a bit of issues with the previous 3/4HP model motors but so far the guys are saying this new 1HP version is pretty solid. Time will tell. I really like the adjustable speed of this one.
