Just wondering if anyone could help me. Recently the alternator/fan belt started squealing upon first startup and does every so often on our 2005 CK30. I thought it might be loose so took a look at it and the alternator adjustment is all the way out and no more slack to tighten it. Is that normal? Is it going to cause a problem? The tractor only has like 160hrs. Should I put a new belt? Is it tough? Any idea on what belt is needed? Thanks for any help.

I've had my CK30hst for @5 years/350 hours and have adjusted the belt twice. The adjustment is out about half of it's full range. It definately sounds like you need a new belt but it shouldn't have stretched that much with only 160 hours. I can't imagine that the crank, alternator, and water pump pullys are out of line causing faster wear. Maybe a longer size was installed from the factory but it's time to shorten it up. Your water pump and alternator won't spin properly if the belt gets to lose.
I never measured my belt to know the size. It looks like a 4L width but no idea on length. If you take it off, an auto parts store can measure it and size you down a new one or call a Kioti dealer for a new belt. They are fairly simple to replace. Loosen up the alternator, slide the belt forward of the pullys, then out around the fan.

My CK30 has a big belt too. The adjustment is at the max tightness and I get the same startup slipping that you describe many times. I think it is because during startup the glow plugs are drawing so much juice that the alternator is really tugging on the belt. I would tighten the belt to fix this but I can't.
Since the slipping stops pretty quickly I just live with it. Adjust RPMS until it grabs and then no more slip the rest of the day.

Get a link belt then you can just take a link out to tighten the belt. They run smoother and quieter also.

My CK30 does a little squeal now and again at start up too. As it warms and few rpms it goes away. Hasn't done it enough for me to worry about, but if mine is the "long" belt, I'll shorten up on replacement.
