JD 2210
I have a John Deere 2210 that I use around my little "farm". I have a bush hog type mower but it is wrecking the "lawn". I suppose it is due to the roll of the land and the float action of the deck in response - sometimes it is too high and other times it is WAY too low. So the vegetation (I hesitate to call it grass at this point) is either it is too long or shaved off.
I am thinking a belly mower might help. Thoughts?
And can I buy any brand of belly mower or do I have to buy JD branded.
Thanks!

Or you could consider getting a 3pt finish cut mower. Either the belly mower or the 3pt finish mower should give you a nice looking cut. Bush hog mowers can give you a decent cut on level land, but as you've found out, they are not very forgiving on lawns that have lots of hills or dips. If you get a belly mount mower, I'm pretty sure that you are limited to a John Deere brand belly mower as they are designed for John Deere tractors. From what I've seen, most tractor manufacturers prefer to design their belly mowers to be specific for their tractors. That way, if you need/want one, then you have to buy it from them. Just good business sense I guess....
