After not being used for some 3 months the starter motor will not kick in. Batteries are all OK but no action from starter motor - not even a click. What should I be diagnosing first and how. How do I jump start it bypassing the ignition switch? How can I test if the solenoid is getting power? Is the solenoid jammed and if so how do I free it up?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

For the solenoid to do anything it has to be getting power when you turn the key. If you know the location of the solenoid put a voltmeter on the terminal from the key and see if you have voltage when the key is turned. You could have a defective or dirty key switch or a loose wire between there and the starter. Mice like to chew wires, too.

I often use an old style pointy testing light. The brightness of the bulb can tell you more than a meter. Clip it to a good ground, and see if you have power coming from your battery at the starter.

The thing is, that if you have a high resistance connection, a digital meter will still read full battery voltage which can be very misleading if you don't understand electrical theory.

Yeah... I have $500 worth of digital and analog meters and the point test light is my first go to on non computer automotive/tractor circuits....

To OP, as for troubleshooting start issue, put test light on terminal/wire that energises solenoid and see if you are getting "power" to energise solenoid ... That should tell you which way to troubleshoot....
