Befco tiller works great!

Tilled up a 50x50 food plot. Tiller worked great. First time I've used it. Very happy with the outcome. I broke the sod up with the BB w/rippers set all the way down, then tilled it. The only issue with the tiller is the slip clutch. It pretty rusty, I dought it's working.

I am not familiar with Befco products, but apparently it works . It is too clean get it dirtier . Nice looking dog- Looks a little bored though. Jay

You can loosen the bolts on the slip clutch, and rotate it by hand (or with Channel locks) to get it to "slip", rotate it a few revs, then tighten up the bolts, but not all the way, and check it in operation. If it slips while doing regular work, it may squeal or smoke, then tighten the bolts a little more.

The slip cltuch should be doing a small amount of work in really tough spots, slipping just a hair now and again. After tilling for a while shut down tractor. touch the slip clutch house, is it HOT?
That means it's been slipping some. If it's not warmer than the tiller itself, it's probably not slipping at all.

Mine is factory new, and I think it is too tight, or, just stuck from the assembly process. I was researching this when I happened upon this post.

I checked my bolts and they aren't tightened down to the point the springs are compressed ( a sure sign it's too tight).
