Beer, whats yours?

I'm not a huge fan of Bud and Bud Light, however, I've been persuaded by a local pizza shop that has really good pizza and dollar buds daily! :drink:

We went there last night, for that matter. :licking:

I keep a few different ones on hand, lagunitas, 805, blue moon. My favorite right now is hops of wrath. I usually do have some type of IPA when out on the town.

My main criteria for selecting beer is bottled (over canned), Lager, with NON-twist off caps...bottles with twist off caps go "phtt" when you open them...non twist off bottles go fwshhhhhhhhh....!....

...Watch the guys that load beer from trucks into stores...they get shook up pretty good...lots of dented and damaged packaging...shook up beers in bottles with twist off caps tend to go flat or at least lose some of the fizz...

I bounce around a few favorites are:...Moosehead, Red Stripe, Dos Equis ...

BTW, beer in green bottles tend to get skunky with age no so much with brown bottles...

Most of my friends drink Busch Light so that's what I drink..
I have a couple of friends like you, they prefer other people's beer. I usually drink Bud but I can't resist a good sale on other lagers.

Free, Cold, Warm. My favorites in order.

I like just about any beer except the stouts. Maybe if I was in a dank pub in Ireland, and the temp was right, I could endure one.

There is a small brewery in Wisconsin, called Stephen's Point Brewery. They make a good beer. I can't get them down here, but if my friend goes back there, he has orders to try to bring some back.

The special lager is really smooth.

Go to beer is usually Anheuser Busch product.

I think I've tried about all of them at one time or another. I figure Schlitz is one the worst; tastes bad and had a bad effect, on me at least. The guy who named it had a lisp, Schlitz is not what he was trying to say. Corona beer from Mexico is, to me, the worst tasting beer, but has become very popular in this area. I used to be a Bud drinker for many years. I wish I could remember the name of the large mouth bottles of cheap beer I bought when I spent the school year of 1971-72 at Northwestern University just north of Chicago. On one trip to Alaska, I noticed some posted prices for a "case" of beer that didn't look much more than Dallas prices, so I asked for a case, and that's when I learned that a Canadian "case" was 12 while our case was 24. Soo I got 2 cases and asked the guy to just mix up the different brands. So I had several brands of beer and a couple brands of Ale, and they all tasted about the same to me.

But that's all long ago in the past. Now the only beer I've bought for several years is a Texas beer; Shiner bock in the long neck bottles, and the only time I drink one is when I get hot mowing the yard and sit down on patio and have one. So a 12 pack will last more than a year.

I like stout, but not so much of the chocolate or coffee ones. I do brew my own hard cider but it runs over 10% so I've got to watch how much I drink.
I will drink IPA if it is hot, I have some Voodoo Ranger in the fridge now.

lol, Actually it makes it a lot easier when ordering rounds in a bar or buying beer for a party when most of your buds drink the same brand.

I've found that on the occasion that I drink a few (4 or 5) beers of a different brand, bad things happen the next day, like a hangover or worse. I try to avoid that if possible.

I don't drink much. Tend to get the lighter beers. Kids drink them faster them me. Put a 12 pack in my office fridge, lucky if I get 3. Asking guy at the package store for beer the kids won't drink get funny looks. My youngest is 26.

I tell you guys, there are some many small brewers making reasonably good stuff these days, its completely different from lets say, 30 years ago.

Back in the 70s & 80s I had a job that entailed quite a bit of travel, and I'd try some of the regional beers when I was on the road. I agree, most of them were truly awful. One, either Dixie or Strohs (it was a southern brand) was so bad I dumped it out after only a couple swigs. Genesee was almost as bad (though the cream ale was OK).

Don't drink much beer these days, those rare times I have one it'll usually be either a Molson or Guinness.

After I stopped smoking,I didn't feel near as bad the following day. Do you smoke or is it possible second hand smoke is responsible for your day after problem?

Aaahaa, We have a winner. Blatz was never seen down here, but that's what I drank for the 9 month school year at Northwestern University.

Some Blatz advertising trivia, too. Now back to your regularly scheduled thread...

For me it depends on the time of year and temperature. I'm not much of a drinker but like a beer on occasion. If it's hot then I like something on the lighter side. I find if I've been doing yard work and I'm boiling, a Corona or Dos Equis really hits the spot.

In winter, or when it's cooler, I like the darker heavier beers. I've always been a fan of trying new beers and supporting the little guys so if I'm traveling then I'll try the local micro brews and have found many different ones that I've liked. Lots of good talent out there in the micro brews
