Beef with My Coffee Pot

It's nice to be able to pick one flavor for one cup only. Only problem is it has increased my coffee drinking.

I agree with both comments. :) We have one at home and I bought one my department uses at work. We're on automatic delivery from Green Mountain Coffee for both work and home. Although, I keep an eye on Timothy Coffees on Amazon since they sometimes have them on sale at 25 cents/K cup.

They can put a guy on the moon, but can they please make a coffee pot carafe that doesn't drip all over when you pour your cup!

Outside of buying a commercial unit with a toggle valve, I think the wife and I have tried them all, from the wally world $8 special, to a $250 Cuisinart. We even have a dedicated "coffee cleanup" in isle rag.

OMG no kidding

To specifically answer your beef, the problem is with your pouring technique. I learned how to pour in a chemistry lab where dripping sulphuric acid is a major concern.
Most (all) glasses, beakers, coffee pots etc have a rounded (about 1/8 inch) lip. All you have to do is hook/hold that lip over the rounded lip of the receiving beaker. Then pour as slowly as you want and there is no dripping down the side of either vessel. Try it with water if you want.

Regarding good, really good coffee, I like to brag that I make the best coffee in the county. And that includes all the diners and Starbucks too.

It starts with selecting an excellent green bean (I like Indonesian coffee like Lake Tawar from Sumatra). Then you roast it yourself (not easy to get it just right), outgas it, grind it and steep it in a vacuum pot or French Press.

In the supermarket I like to sneer at the housewives trying to decide on an expensive gourmet blend. I know that I have much better and I only pay $5 a pound.

If you have the inclination you might poke around this web site. It is highly recommended by myself and the guys on usenet's alt.coffee

It's not cheap - you need to get the coffee, roaster, scale, grinder and coffee maker.

We bought a Keurig coffee maker that uses single serving K cups seveal years ago and have not looked back. A freshly brewed cup every time with no fuss or muss. They also make tea and hot chocolate.

Ditto... I have one of these for years...well more than one, had one at the office (when I worked), one in the man cave, one in the kitchen, and most of my friends have now switched. I have a comerical one we keep handy for when we toss a party, and one of the new travel ones. But do have to say I keep my old camping one handy too it's a perk 12 volt, and it so nice to have when your out hunting and waiting on everyone else to climb down the stands, to have fresh coffee!

I got one that didn't drip. I even tried to force it to do it buy no dice. Too bad it died in a couple of months and the carafe wouldn't fit the replacement. IIRC it was a Mr. Coffee with a very wide pouring spout. Our poring area is a folded up towel on the counter.

You guys are so spoiled. Nothing taste any better than a spoon of instant coffee in 8 oz of filtered water, in a styrofoam cup, heated in the micro for 123 sec. It is always in the right position. Then 3 tea spoons of sour-wood honey and a squirt of half-half, stirred gently. One cup only per day, early in the morning between 5 and 6 o'clock, while looking at Tractorbynet, and news from around the world.
