They can put a guy on the moon, but can they please make a coffee pot carafe that doesn't drip all over when you pour your cup!

Outside of buying a commercial unit with a toggle valve, I think the wife and I have tried them all, from the wally world $8 special, to a $250 Cuisinart. We even have a dedicated "coffee cleanup" in isle rag.

I have had the same frustration over the years. Last year we bought a Kitchen Aid coffee maker and I have not had a problem with it dripping from the spout while pouring.

:DWe've always used cheap coffee makers until this year. We didn't go as high as $250, but we bought a Cuisinart in January, primarily because it has a stainless steel thermal carafe, turns off when the coffee is made, but keeps the coffee hot for hours. It lasted 2.5 months before it died, but fortunately, we bought it at Bed, Bath and Beyond so they replaced it with no questions asked. So the replacement is 3.5 months old and still working. But yep, with any of them, it seems you have to learn to pour the coffee over the sink.:D

Teapots are no better. I've tried to find ones that have a "spout" instead of just a pointy top edge. They call me "Mr. Spillypants"

We had that one too Bird, got it at best buy. It also lasted about 3 months and the heating element went out. We took it back for the refund (bought the insurance) That model was around $150 if I recall. We liked the insulated carafe, but for the money we are back to the "cheap" makers.

We have been threatening to by a insulated carafe similar to the ones at I-hop or Denny's, I could use the funnel I have for my tractors hydraulic oil to get it from the pot to the carafe, may save a few drops..

We bought a Keurig coffee maker that uses single serving K cups seveal years ago and have not looked back. A freshly brewed cup every time with no fuss or muss. They also make tea and hot chocolate.

My coffee maker consist of 1 medium size coffee cup a small spoon of instant coffee
Fill cup with tap water place cup in microwave for 44 seconds remove from microwave enjoy coffee .
Went to this method several years ago after battling all the different coffee pots and coffee makers for many many moons .

Has worked out so well I have never felt a need to look back.

If the carafe has a "thumb operated lid", lift the lid an inch or so before you pour. The last three pots we owned dripped until I figured this one out.

I'm not so sure but what Mr. Brown has the right idea.:D Our situation might be a little different from most folks. I've been married to my wife over 44 years, and of course knew her for 6 or 7 months before I married her. But as long as I've known her, she keeps a cup of coffee within reach from the time she gets out of bed in the morning until she goes to bed at night. She only wants it luke warm. If it's as hot as most folks prefer, she puts an ice cube in it. So our coffee pot carafe always has coffee in it unless she's cleaning it or making another pot. Of course, I sip coffee from the time I get up in the morning until around noon, when I change to cold drinks; mostly iced tea, but some ice water, or even the "adult beverages" we've talked about in other threads. So when I get up in the morning, there's coffee in the carafe, barely warm from last night, so first thing, I pour myself a cup and put it in the microwave for 40 seconds.

Unlike Mr. Brown, I don't use 44 seconds. I want to use increments of 10 seconds because the carousel in our microwave makes one complete revolution every 10 seconds, so the coffee cup handle stops in the same position I left it.:)

Instant coffee might be instant but it's not coffee  more like emergency caffeine. :)
