Tractor
still looking
All right. I've been researching compact tractors for several months now and have decided I could be happy with a JD 4700, Kubota 4610 or a NH45D. Any of these tractors would do any of the tasks I would need it to perform. To be honest even if the prices were identical on all three tractors and the Kubota and John Deere had a slight advantage in power or ease of operation in any way I would probably pick the Boomer because it is just so good looking! Am I being too shallow? Assuming performance is equal on all 3 tractors and you were forced to choose on appearances alone, which tractor would win the beauty contest?

Well Blackberry1, I originally started looking at tractors, because of seeing a NH Boomer ad. I knew before that I needed a bigger tractor than my WH 16hp lawn tractor, and Craftsman 18hp. When I started looking NH was the first place that I went. Although it wasn't the only place that I looked , it was the last. Bought the TC21D a couple of weeks ago, not only on looks, but on reputation, and specs. My vote was NH.

I have a Kubota because I like the feel and operation better, but on appearance alone, I think the New Hollands are the best looking.

David -

Although I bought <font color=orange>orange</font color=orange>, I had narrowed my search down to Kubota and New Holland. I don't think you can beat the looks and ergonomics of the modern Boomers.

Ya just gotta get what makes you feel good.

Once you've determined the performance and features you want, there's nothing wrong with relying on subjective attributes. You'll probably be a happier owner in the end for it /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Blackberry1:Would the judging be based on the looks of the tractor itself? Or with the tractor's owner in the seat?!

Good question. I'm not sure if the best looking tractor made would win any beauty contests with me on it. To be fair, all judgments should be on the beauty of the machine itself. It might be fun to see pictures of some of the owners with their nomination for beauty queen. All decked out of course.

Hate to admit it /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif but NH for all around looks. /w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif

I spend some time (actually, a LOT of time) looking at green, orange and blue and I have to admit, the blue one looked best to me. I also liked the features, feel and, just as important, the blue dealer. Therefore I am a blue owner.

Larry,
Nice looking tractor. I bet your son has asked more than once if he could drive it.

Beauty contest? I'm gonna skip the interview and talent contest and "tune in" for the swimsuit competition. When does that begin?/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Good question!

I too have been researching. And have also narrowed down to what seems to be the same result. "Which one looks better?" It's terrible to have spent all this time trying to decide which brand to buy, only to have it all boiled down to "looks."

Boomers win this one hands down.

Thats my littlest one and he allready has a few minutes of seat time under his belt...or should i say sneakers. It takes a good 4 hours to mow my lawn and every chance he gets he's gotta drive. He leaves the loader and bush hog work to me though/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif Here is a pic of my last little blessing, Larry

I think the boomes are pretty on the INSIDE too! What do I like about my TC35D?

1. Gas tank in the back, easier to fill up
2. Hood flips wide open easily
3. Seat is very comfy with lots of travel
4. DUEL POWER on the Class III's, I use this ALL the time
5. Loader is very powerful, easy to remove too
6. Right fender designed to hold TNT values, looks good and easy to use
7. Brakes on the proper side
8. Telescoping 3pt links, very easy to hook up heavy implements

I'm sure I missed some,

Peter

Some of the beauty has function. The sloped hood makes for great visibility. While sitting in the seat of my tc 35 I can see all the way across the top of the bucket with it all the way down. This makes it very convenient while easing up to things. (walls, trees, etc.) I have a set of forks I have not mounted yet but will be able to see even when in the middle of the bucket, this is a great advantage. I suspect in the future you will see the other brands follow the design. The auto companies do this all the time. When one company comes out with something that works the others soon follow.

(also the aerodynamics help above 80MPH)
