Is a root rake worth the money on a small dozer or am I dreaming. I need to clear brush in Florida and then make piles to burn....some say it won't have the HP to do it and then some say you'll be fine....please help....thanks in advance.

A lot will depend on what you mean by brush. Being in Fla you probably have soft ground which will help. At 37 hp and 9000 lbs you wont be tearing up trees but brush maybe. Try tipping your blade and running through the area with the corner down in the roots to get an idea of what your machine can do in the area you need to clean. Remember you can always take smaller bites with the rake as long as you can lift the roots and they wont stop you.
Otherwise hire it done or rent a bigger machine.

I have a similar machine, a Komatsu d20. I don't have a root rake but I have no problem taking down pretty big trees, just takes a little longer. I'd think if you keep the teeth short and spaced wide a root rake would do fine. In Louisiana we have pretty good ground so that's what I'm basing my opinion on. Moisture will make a difference too. Up north in the rocks, probably won't work.
