Battery issues

Kenmac, here is a question for ya. Did you never hear that battery boiling when you shut your tractor off? It should of been easily heard if you ever even walked by the tractor for 10 to 15 seconds at least after it was shut off, like if you ever shut down to clean the screen, etc. Even if your like many of us and lost some hearing range I'm surprised your son didn't hear the boiling hissing sound from under the hood when shut down!!! At that voltage you would be boiling it after just 10 minutes or so!!

Removed the VR today and found what appears to be a small resistor ? broken /burn off.

I called Alan (TX mower )and we discussed the wiring diagrams he posted. A BIG THANK YOU to Alan for the help !!
Great talking with you today.

My new alternator should be here Friday. I'll post back as to how it works out
Hey, Ken - no worries, I enjoyed 'meeting' you, sharing Yanmar experiences, and the long-distance circuit testing session!

FYI for anyone following - though Ken's 3110D wire colors don't match my 336D schematic, he proved with some continuity testing that the wire routing and pin-assignments at the VR harness connector are identical. That was pretty much expected, Hoye shoes the same replacement VR PN as a plug-in swap for both models, but good to know by testing for proof.

So, I'm (I hope "we're") optimistic that the swap to the Internal Regulated Alternator / elimination of external VR should work fine for him as shown in the other thread. I'm anxiously awaiting a good-news report of success.

? Hearing how many 'white wires' are on Ken's Fredricks Yanmar .... I wonder if some/all of that wiring was replaced by Fredericks using one spool of wire? Oh well, no matter, Ken's testing proved the routing is the same so that's all that does matter.

I really don't think so, All the wiring looks original. someone could verify by looking at their wiring.
At the time I bought mine, he (fredricks) didn't do anything xtra on the yanmars except what was needed. Not near what they do to them now days. That VR also looked original as well.

I forgot to mention, after I got off the phone with you, I cleaned off the area I where I was going to make the splice, some wires have small tabs on the wires with numbers.

Ken, I dug-out my old abandoned VR and documented your great idea  for using the old VR plug for the required jumpers - see https://www.tractorbynet.com/forums...nator-conversion-post5239019.html#post5239019

Lol, I'd like to think I'd have come up with that idea if I'd kept my original harness as my permanent solution. As it is I built a totally new harness from scratch so the jumpers weren't needed.

I've got a complete intact and fully-labeled 336D main wiring harness sitting in my old-parts collection if anyone ever needs me to reference anything on it for 'em.

I found my wires are the same color as you posted in the picture using the factory plug and connecting the wires over
