I have a kubota L2500dt.Wondering what gauge postive cable I should run to the starter.Know the length already. But I 'am 200+ miles from the tractor so awkward to check the gauge of wire.

Just go to an auto parts or Wallmart and buy your correct length from car cable stocks.
If a cable can start a car it will do for the tractor. It can never be too big a gauge.
It is one case where bigger can be better.

Car cables likely won't be bigger than 4 gauge. Tractor cables probably shouldn't be smaller than 1 gauge. 4 is much smaller than 1.

Heavier is better. The chassis return cable or what is called "ground" is every bit as important as the cable to the starter. Many machines use a contorted path of bolted together sections of sheet metal etc as the return path. Odds are you will be amazed at how much faster the engine cranks with 2/00 cable. With a new " ground" cable ran direct from the battery to a starter mounting bolt.
