"The U.S does indeed produce enough oil to meet its own needs. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), in 2020 America produced 18.4 million barrels of oil per day and consumed 18.12 million."
For years we've been pumping our own plentiful oil. As mentioned many products from fertilizer to plastics are made from petroleum AS WELL AS POWER PLANTS THAT GENERATE ELECTRICITY to charge EVs!!!!!
EV proponents actually believe there's a magic wand somewhere out there where the manufacture, charging, battery production, tires, etc. doesn't require petroleum, is "green" and leaves no carbon footprint.
Alternative energy sources such as wind, solar, nuclear, etc. also is free energy as well as the manufacture and installation of hundreds of thousands of charging stations with the required grid upgrades to supply/transfer all that needed additional power. Fast chargers will be available everywhere at little or no cost to the EV owner and appear on every street like parking meters and apartment parking spots.
5 minute recharge...no waiting.
Then in the coming years EVs price will drop and there will be no charging price increase or electric bill increases.
All of this without tax increases.
That misconception amazes me the most, more so than the impractability of 100% EV migration of all transportation, cars, trucks, construction equipment, ag equipment, tractors, boats and planes.
Free energy, no petroleum.
I'm completely amazed what people believe.
