Ballast Ballast box question

You are correct on all counts. It does recommend 300 pounds for the BX and 500 for the B series tractors. And... it sure is pricey! I paid $160 for mine. The Kubota dealer in my area recently changed ownership and the new owner is very arrogant. No discounts, everything is list price. I wish there was another dealer near by.

Would have been even better for clearance and strength if they had placed the angle on the bottom and welded both sides of the angle iron so it formed a "V". What do you use for weight? I was thinking of window sash weights if I can find them.... Right now, I have 2# lead ingots in the old box, but they are a pain to put into each time you move them.. takes forever to get them in place so they don't jump around...

Fifty pound sandbags from Home Depot work well for me. They are cheap, don't rattle and are easy to remove if you need to.

Hey Siebo you said loading the tires is not an option what about wheel weights. I bought some hardwhere from
EZ WEIGHTS you can buy the stock weights form Kubota or you can buy EZ WEIGHTS and install them on your rims and install castiron weight lifter style weights. There phone number is

Here's my JD weight box, filled with cement with 3 shovels in the PVC pipe. It is covered with mud from being dragged low during some precarious manuevering. I can see how the legs would be a hassle. I often scape the ground with this one but it is smooth on the bottom.

I weighs around 500lbs seems perfect for my tractor.
