Thanks to all for your replies. Since my first post I found that my local tire dealer can fill my tires for less than $200, so at that price I'm going to take that option. :) As a bonus it is a bio-degradable option called Agri Lim, which is similar to Rim Guard, but made here in Canada. (Quebec actually)

I have also found a way to easily attach those exercise weights to my box blade, which has increased the counter weight.

It's amazing the difference weight makes. I mounted the MMM (375lbs) and added an extra 120 lbs to the box blade and now I can do the same loader work in 2wd that previously had to do in 4wd. I wish I had figured this out sooner...but thanks to TBN for helping me figure it out when I did.

Looking forward to seeing what difference the loaded tires make.

I am considering using an old water heater tank 3/4 full of concrete. The other 1/4 will be for tools, chains etc.

I know my JD ballast box was expensive, but its really strong and I'd never cob-up anything to save that money. just my opinion
