Bad water pump?

Last time operating tractor while running it started smoking, I immediately cut it off. The belt was smoking. later, I cranked up the tractor it was running smoothly and then heard and noticed the fan blade was moving back and forth. The blade was hitting the radiator fan guard. Would that be the pulley attached to the blade or a more serious problem the water pump has gone bad?

Try moving the fan blades around, if they wobble the bearings in water ever it is bolted to have gone bad or the fan mounting bolts have worked loose.

With the fan belt off try rotating the fan. Check for smoothness and ease of rotation. Try spinning the pulley on your alternator as well. You'll soon determine which is loose or hanging up.
