We've given our dogs a child sized aspirin, I searched the internet before trying it. Not to be done consistently or on an empty stomach I think.

ONly 105, don't worry be happy. That is dry heat, wait until the humidity goes up some.. then you'll really feel the heat. Spent 3 1/2 years in Phoenix (from 77-81)... My car had vinyl seats and no AC (other than manually cranking the window down). I enjoyed some weekends in Tucson and learned to snow ski on Mt Lemmon by Tucson. I think it thinned my blood and after that, did not handle the cold as well. Now many years later, don't handle the heat well, do fine with the cold. Went to San Diego for July 4th weekend and was 126 in Yuma when we passed through...

It 111 right now 2:35 PM. Breaking my thing about no beer in the house. Just went out & grabbed a couple. Like walking into an oven. The breeze makes it feel like a blast furnace.

Have the 3 mutts in the house. Heat does not seem to bug Riley very much. She laid in the sun for a while this am.

Bobby doing a little better, still scratching, but not going nuts. Cut huge hand full of hair off of her this am. She does need a little more paint.

Soon it may be that I have to go shopping at the big Wally World. That is a pain in the butt. Way too much walking. Can't buy beer until after 6am, not even at the Indian store.

Mom got me out of a ticket. Had started through Texas Canyon & a caddy passed me like I was standing still ( 85 / 90 ) soon an HP went by & waved me over. No point in stopping here, just pull up behind him after he gets the caddy stopped. When done with them he comes back to me. Looks in the truck & isn't that your mom?? Got a look at his name tag Billy Ray Smith. He really looked old I would have never recognized him. Yep Billy Ray that's mom. He went & talked to her for a while, then came back to me. He says I'm going to have to write you a warning. All I could say was Thank You Billy Ray. Mom said the reason he looked so old was that had about 3 heart attacks.

I didn't get out of this ticket. Freeway 805 had just opened & I pretty much had it all to myself. HP stopped me (85?) & started writing. He was shaking like a leaf , maybe his first ticket?? When he got done it ask where I was going told him I lived Cardiff & worked in Elk Cajone. He said you should drive a VW. I just smiled & told him the would not go fast enough.

Another ticket that I got out of. ( was actually innocent this time. ) A young friend & i had gone to Naco, a little town just across the border south of Bisbee. On the way back a beer can rolled across the highway in front of my car. In those days ( long before the tunnel ) Streets through Bisbee were not only very narrow but steep. ( Streets in town are still real narrow. Just 2 old narrow cars wide. ) Anyway I showed him my case of beer & it was not opened. After I left he went & found the beer can & picked it up. Judge thought he was there to prosecute me. He said he was there in my defense. Judge was shocked & said you wrote the ticket & now you are defending him. He said first his case of beer was not opened. Second it was a different brand of beer. Case dismissed.:laughing::thumbsup:

Enough drivel for 1 day,
Jim

I know what you mean about feeling like you went into blast furnace... hoping you get some cold drinks and relax a bit. I'm trying to cut back on sugar and avoid artificial sweetners, been putting some local raw honey in my ice tea (my wife sweetens the whole pitcher).. supposed to be in 90s here tomorrow, 20+ degrees above average, but not a record. Record is 96 back in 1936 if I recall from the news this week. Love reading your stories.. When I was in school in Phoenix, I rented a room from an elderly lady (she passed so I can say that and not get my hand slapped). She was born in the late 1800s in west texas and moved to Phoenix with her husband and family in the 1940s I think. She had some stories to tell for sure. Her husband was a HVAC man with his own business and did well (he had passed by the time I met her). She still mowed her own lawn into her 90s. Wouldn't let any of us do something she was fully able to do.

Man OH Man. Coffee is tasting so much better. Tasting bad the last 3/3 days.
Too many grounds??
Not enough grounds??
Wrong brand of Coffee?
Nope none of the above.

Milk is sour, almost ready to turn into clabber. How do I know
Took a big drink UGH,
Fortunately mutts like sour milk. But nearly a gallon was even Too much for them. I am not a sour milk fan.

Too much beer. Decided I didn't want any more. Of course right after i open a can. No wonder my beer costs are so high. :D

BTDT! One good reason to spend a little more and get the super-pasteurized half-half. You can use less and the stuff keeps way longer than milk. Probably costs less overall.

Good suggestion or maybe whole cream. that is really good.
But this gallon of milk was over a month past its wear date. Some how the new milk was used ahead of it.
Pretty normal for me to do dumb things.

Last evening Bobby was pretty miserable. She hopped on the bed & snuggled up, used a new word ( dog language which I don't understand )., fairly rare for her. Found 1 tick, so 1 less itch, Another raw spot, put body lotion on it & she shuddered a little then settled down & went to sleep. Riley came in & she laid her head on my legs, Stayed all night. This AM cut off a lot more of Bobby's hair. She seemed pretty happy. Went on 1 of her little patrols & bounded along like a spring chicken.

Miserable evening & night for me. Too hot, too cold, got my own itches, + pain. Finally got to sleep around 3:30AM. Wide awake at 6 & full of bad thoughts.
Mostly about Cody & his grandmother. I do blame her for a lot of his problems. She screwed up raising her 2 children. Things went pretty well when she listened to me. But they didn't go right when she went off on her own. She also kept promising he could come here & live. but kept breaking that promise.

OH well life goes on & water under the bridge can not be pushed back. & Most of the time I'm pretty happy.

I have a desire for a 30-06 rifle, What for??? I will never hunt anything, don't even want to shoot it. Had a real nice, new like condition on the 160 acres near Bowie. Ask my brother in law if he still had it. Said he gave it to his sister in NM who is starting a gun collection. No big deal.

Been sort of day dreaming about where I would go if I had plenty of $$$$. Quite frankly No Where. Am pretty content to be here, even though this is 1 strange neighborhood. Then thinking if I had some Escape ( so to speak ) place to go, when its to hot or to cold or to what ever. No where.

There are quite a few places I would have liked to have gone to before moving here. But too late for any of that now.

Sat on deck this AM & let my mind ( what little is left of it. ) wander. Strange how 1 thing leads to another & it leads to something else.

I should have gone back to the Healy ranch after I got out of the Navy. Would probably own it now. Would have had to learn to be a real cowboy & how to run a ranch. Truly a slice of heaven.

North of Tombstone is a rock that looks like a sheep's head. Too the left is a road that leads to an asbestos mine. There is a cave across from it. lots of stalagmites.
1 spot on the road up there is so steep everyone except the driver had to get out & push.
Years ago there was a permanent stream that ran across a big flat rock with a cave under it. Good place to go swimming & jump off the rock.
Another road goes straight up past an old ranch house. never went past there never seen anyone home to ask if OK. A little to the right of it is another road that goes up behind the sheep's head. Was a road at 1 time, when I went up it many years ago, it was drive over 1 big rock & on to the next. At the top was a saw mill, long since abandoned. Farther to the right the road goes over the mountain to Sulfur Springs valley. Just before you get to the top, a friend of mines dad had a mining claim. Beautiful place, lots of big oak trees & a nice cabin. Saw him about 10 years ago, said he just let it go & the government took.

Now the good part & where the whole story was really going.
Just over the top a good but narrow road went to the left. A mile or 2 up it was a small gold mine. & I do mean small, went in about 10 or 12 feet & was so narrow whoever was mining it would have have had to turn sideways to work it. A narrow vein of quarts with gold in it.
2 Or 3 miles past it was a truly beautiful place. 2 Good sized pastures full of nice green grass & an old barn still standing. ( Sort of.) Across from it was what was left of a rock house. Cement steps & walls still there, but roof had fallen in. It would have been a wonderful place to live.
Am sure that by now someone has taken it over. As they have leading up to the mountains. Left Tombstone in the evening a few years ago & it looked like a whole city out there.

If you can stand it?? More later.

Would you believe summer is almost here??

12 Noon time & 112. May just warm up any day now. Cooler doing its job (mostly.) Kept temp 34 degrees below outside yesterday. It is not putting out the volume it should. Need to oil the bushing or replace the whole spider. It also needs a new belt. I keep buying the wrong length.

Big bunny came in this AM Riley laying in the sun (Only about 85) & dog laying in the shade. They either heard or smelled it & the chase was on. Riley at full speed & dog right behind her. She came to an obstacle & made a leap at least 8 feet long. I'm glad the bunny got away.

Have made up my mind that I will do the north & west side in glass. If I can find some place that still sells it. Get south side wind blocked off & get a window type AC.

Some pictures think most will be self explanatory. If not ask me.
