Buy a worn out full size complete TLB and resell. Take a chance and live dangerously.

Backhoes are sure are handy. Had many from 3pt to full size. In my opinion tractor mounted backhoes can hurt either the tractor or operator. On our hillside farm constant swinging of the boom is necessary for stability while driving or FEL work so must be in reachable while facing forward.

Bought a full size used 4500 Ford backhoe for $4,500, used 20 years, sold for $4,500. Used full size backhoes are probably the most bang for the buck. They are 100x safer and better diggers.

Small tractor mounted backhoes are certainly priced high. Finding used to fit a particular tractor a challenge. Be sure to only get a subframe mount.

My Kubota M59 didn’t come with backhoe. Took over two years to find a used one from dealer several states away. Heavy built 12’ backhoe with thumb cost half of what the same dealer wanted for used small tractor backhoe attachments.

Our small B26 TLB is a jewel. Perfect for utility work and repair. Compact size fits many places bigger machines can’t. 80% time 3pt, 20% backhoe. Takes 20minutes to switch. If you ever use a thumb you can never be without. Sure saves a lot of manual labor. Saving time, money, while having fun is what pays return on these investments.

Agreement with everything posted thus far - another option is a Mini ex either a new Chinese mini which for $4K you can get a 1 ton gas model and for $9K a 2 ton Diesel model.
Pros - are inexpensive, can do a decent amount of work, good for small projects, trenching, occasional homeowner use,
Cons
-Are slow if you have a lot of area to cover
- Arent very heavy so dont have a lot of digging force - but the 2 ton mini is close to what a small TLB will dig - 2300Lbs force. '

Or wait and look for a used one for your machine - probably expect 2/3s of new price so 6-7K.

I put a new BH on a 10 yr old machine.
Best money spent for my use.
