Hi all,
I've been searching and I can't figure out the answer to my question.

How can you tell which way the flow goes on a backhoe stack valve?
There are no markings that I can find to show the in/out direction. This is an older Kelley backhoe with just a hydraulic line on each end of valve bank. There is a pressure guage and relief valve on one end. Is this the "in" end of the valve bank? I haven't been able to verify this for sure. Any help is appreciated, Thanks

That appears to be correct, a relief and gage would be on the input side. With it connected to the hydraulics, you should show low to some pressure, and if you activate a valve and hold it, the relief will activate and show the relief pressure on the gage. The system pressure should be higher than relief pressure.

Thanks JJ,
That was the line of thinking I was on. I hooked it up that way and pressure shows real low; then, when I operate a cylinder the pressure comes up a little til it gets to end of stroke and then jumps to 1800-2000 psi on relief. I just wanted to be sure I was going the right way with it.
Thanks

Sounds like you have got a handle on it. You are one of a few that have a gage in any hydraulic circuit, and it would solve many questions that are asked on this forum.
