Backhoe -ROP\'S

I just purchased a new 3710 HST with a new Bradco 509 backhoe. The dealer tells me he can't or is having a hard time hooking up the extended rop that Kubota makes but he say's he can hook up the folding ROP. I feel I would rather have the extended rop since I feel that headroom could be a problem. Can someone tell me if I am wrong or is it possible to hook up the extended ROP? Why can he hook up one but have problem's with the other? It seems that they should both fit. Has anyone else had a problem with headroom? I am of average height (5'11") Any help would be appreciated and thanks!

I have a Bradco 609 on my L4310HST with the standard ROPS. It's a little low but it doesn't bother me, because sitting straight up isn't my normal operating posture when I'm using the backhoe. If it were easy, I'd have the ROPS 3 inches or so longer, but it's not a big deal. I'm 6'0" tall.

I guess the issue is that you have a sub-frame mounted hoe and actually sit under the ROPS. I sit further from the tractor with my 3ph hoe, so it's not an issue. The only thing I can figure is that some sub-frame mounts may use some the same parts of the tractor as some ROPS mounts. At least that seems like a possible reason why one ROPS would work and another wouldn't.

tomg, What hoe do you have? I'm kicking around getting one and am weighing pros/cons of sub frame vs 3 pt and hard plumbed vs pto powered. Won't be doing a ton of work with it. (I've looked at Bradco and Kelley and see that Bush hog also makes one.) I assume a new one is from 4-6K?

It's a Kelley B600 on a Ford 1710. I just posted a response to ecarlson on the same subject. There are a few other ideas as well. As I noted, there's a bunch of stuff in the archives here and on the CTB.
