First I want to thank everyone for the info on attaching photographs. Apparently the file size was to large.

I ordered the drawings from Cadplans.com and the kit from Metkit Corporation. The kit included all tubing, brackets, bushings, pins, manifold, hoses, cylinders and even the seat. The material was well packaged and appears to be cut on exact size. Happy so far. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Lesson 2 of attaching photographs is to post one message with an attached photograph then simply reply to that message and attach subsequent photos and not start a new message for every photo. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Great project. I'll be interested in following it. I'm glad to hear that the kit quality is good as I've looked into them myself.

I have been welding for thirty years and have seen a lot of fabricated steel. I was very impressed with the quality and workmanship. I just hope I can say the same thing about my part when the unit is completed.

Lookin' good so far, Glenn1! May I recommend a point about the pins and bearings? Do what you can to make them greasable. Center and cross drill with zerks or purchase something already made. I used the bronze/graphite 'permamnently lubed' bearings and they're binding pretty bad. In fact, the pin at the boom-to-frame joint apparently locked up and caused the pin to wear on the upper and lower holes in the steel instead. Trying to figure out how to easily repair this hiccup....

The plans call for grease fittings and grinding a path for grease around the center of each bushing.

I sounds like you built the same machine, are you satisfied with the power and operation?

Did you have any other problems?

How much was the steel kit?

The metal kit was $822.00. Go to www.metkit.com for all pricing. They are very helpful with questions and problems. Give them a call.

Glenn1-- last summer i built the cad plan 608 with the extended boom, power beyond valve, joy sticks, 15" and 6" buckets for my 15 hp kubota three point hitch and was the best thing i ever built. I started a thread on this site then if you want to see it. If you need any suggestions, let me know, am more than willing to help.

I am currently building the 608. Any helpful hints on assembly? Where did you install the grease fittings?

I have the main structure complete, except for two pieces that were missing from the kit, the main boom and the pivot assembly. I am currently working on the short section of the boom. I called John and he is sending out the missing parts.

Sorry for the delay in responding, I have been riding by Harley across Kentucky, Tennessee and Georgia for six days.

I am building the model 608 with extended boom and joy sticks. I have needed to call twice concerning questions and found them very helpful.

Glenn1-- The grease fitting i installed after I had all the bushings made, inserted and fitted with the pins cut and the tabs welded on the ends. Then with every thing taken apart, I drilled the zert fitting into the bushing end making sure that on full movement that they wouldnt hit anything. Reassamble each part with pins installed and bolted, drill or mark pin thru zert hole, and remove pin and cut groove around pin with edge of grinding wheel about 1/64" deep. As seen in the pictures, also cut your spacers before you grove pins. Drilling the zert fittings was one of the last things i did.

If you have a picture of the extended boom, could you post one or two of it? I would like to see how it is designed.

I am very interested in your suggestions and comments. What is the title of your thread? I do have some concerns on weld size, it is hard to estimate force on each joint. Do you have any photographs? How is the operation?
