I have an 11 foot Kub (Bradco) backhoe - big as CUT hoes go, but it is still not big enough to dig out 18" white pine stumps easily. Best tool for it is a commercial TLB with size and grunt enough to reach behind the stump, breaking off the roots underground. It's fast, and what rolls out is a reasonable size for burying.

For commercial use you are absolutely correct but for a homeowner willing to dig at a stump for a few hours, even very small 6ft BHs are capable of getting the job done. The ultimate challenge is not the BH but the ability of the tractor to lift or drag the stump out of the hole.

I've had a six foot BH and a nine footer. While there is little down which is more capable, I would still point out that if the budget is limited that a small BH is WAY more useful than no BH. It takes longer to dig out a stump but even a BX25 can dig out big stumps. Most trenches and digging projects don't require full nine foot depth so the extra reach of bigger BHs is an efficiency benefit but not absolutely necessary feature.

You are absolutely correct. I just meant if he was trying to decide between the two mentioned I would go for the BH92, but it is really easy to spend someone else's money. Lol

I have a L4400 with Kubotas backhoe. It works out for a lot more than I thought. Added a thumb to it and use it for moving fire wood around. I even place the large pieces on the splitter with it. Work smarter, not harder.. The only thing I don't like is removing it. The thing comes off pretty easy, but. You have to install the lift arms and store them when not in use. So if I want to use the brush hog it takes half hour to change everything over if lucky. Then back again, then store the arms/bolts etc. Don't get me wrong it's not hard, but when I have time to do something I don't want to waste an hour changing stuff. So the second tractor was bought...
